Indians at Twins - Aug 15th

Runs Scarce In Tribe, Twins Tilt

With Westbrook on the mound for the Tribe and Santana chunking for the Twins, it should be a low-scoring affair in Tuesday night's contest at the Metrodome in Minnesota.

Tonight the National Sports Advisors look for the Indians and Twins to score under 8.5 runs.

Johna Santana (13-5, 3.24 ERA) toes the slab tonight for Minneosta. Santana is an impressive 7-0 with a 2.72 ERA in 12 starts at the Metrodome this season, and 11-0 with a 2.20 ERA in his last 18 outings there.

Minnesota is a perfect 18-0 in all of those games, with their last loss in one of the southpaw's home starts coming in a 2-1 defeat Aug. 1, 2005 against Oakland.

Santana allowed three runs on four hits while striking out 10 in a 4-3 victory over the Tigers on Wednesday. He's 6-2 with a 3.32 ERA in 12 starts and 10 relief appearances against Cleveland, and 1-1 with a 4.19 ERA against them in 2006.

Jake Westbrook (9-7, 4.18 ERA) tops the hill for the Indians on Tuesday after one of his best starts of the season. Westbrook tossed his second shutout of the year for his 50th career win Wednesday, as Cleveland won 4-0 over Los Angeles.

Westbrook scattered nine hits to the Angels and has won consecutive starts for the first time since April 4-9. He walked just one batter and struck out seven, and has pitched into the sixth inning in 11 of his past 12 starts.

Westbrook will look for his third straight win, which he hasn't done since Aug. 18-28. The right-hander is 6-7 with a 3.58 ERA in 13 starts and six relief appearances against the Twins, including 1-1 with a 2.02 ERA in two starts this season.

The bottom line is this matchup has all the makings of a low scoring affair. Both pitchers have been tossing the ball well and have fared well against their opponent in their careers. Look for this game to go under the 8.5 run total.

    Play: UNDER 8.5
