Was all set to go big on Detroit but....

The majority of this board likes them as well.

Common sense would lead you to believe Detroit is the play.

Coming home in a must win game 3. Fister is on the mound. There is no way they go down 0-3 right????

For all of these reasons I'm going light on Texas.

I feel like fading this board would be profitable so I'm going to try it out.

I would rather lose small on the better team than lose big on a juiced favorite that has all sorts of injuries.

    Gl. I'm rolling with Texas.

Do me a favor: search "Goat Mush" -- err, "Goat Milk" -- and look at his recent plays. He's on another one of his incredible losing streaks. The fact that he's arguing against playing Texas for no reason whatsoever should only strengthen your belief in this play.

Delmon Young is out too... Detroit is really hurt, regardless if they are "against the wall" doesn't matter if you're desperately pulling players off the bench for a stop-gap in game 3.

Detroit is a logical pick and it seems like the majority of the posters here like them. I've already seen a few "GOY of the year on Detroit, I'm betting 8k on Tigers, 10 units on Detroit, etc" threads. This should tell you not to play them. Even I liked them at first glance.

That coupled with the fact that the line has been moving in a weird way leads me to think the books want you to take Detroit and pay the juice. The books aren't always right but in a coinflip type of game like, especially when it's the only game on tonight, I'll go ahead and side with them.

I think a lot of Detroit backers like the Tigers tonight because they think they are too good to go down 0-3. If that's their angle, so be it. My angel is that the Rangers do not want to face Verlander with the series at 2-1 because that means Detroit has a great shot at evening it up at 2.

I think Texas comes out with the intensity tonight and I think Detroit plays tight in a game they know they need to win.

I'll gladly go against this board and take the better team at plus money. I actually like the Tigers and rooted them on against New York but I have to bet with my gut feeling on this.

The Rangers aren't a guaranteed winner but I like the gamble.

Are you seriously placing your wager on texas because "majority of sbr posters are on the tigers?" Seriously, if that is how you make your wagers you probably should just stop and save your money. Btw, I can find just as many guys on texas as detroit....

No offense, but you are just buying into gambling fallacies with that thinking....

I posted my argument on a different thread LTA, I however agree with BigD. With that said, I think this is one of the few times I'm not on the same line as you.

If you can read, you would have saw that this wasn't my only reason.

    - The line played into my decision.
    - The way Texas is playing factored into my decision.
    - The fact that Texas wants this game just as bad as Detroit knowing they get Verlander next game. If Texas wins this game, they essentially win the series. Likewise, if they lose, Detroit is right back in it.
    - I'm getting the better team at + money in what I consider almost a coinflip game

I think already posted all of this. All of these game of the year threads just made me feel better about.

Texas isn't a lock by anyway means and of course they could lose. That being said, I'm not going huge on it so if I lose I'll be just fine.

I don't wish anyone to lose, but Goat got what was coming to him. He has an attitude and thinks he's Mr. Know it all.

just because the public and this board (or any board) highly favor a play doesn't mean it will automatically lose. LOL

My response was based on your very first post...in that post, all you stated for reasoning was fading SBR...I just think that's a ridiculous reason to make a wager. I'm relieved to see you had some other reasons...

Yeah man, after I re-read my first post I could see you're thinking.

That is not the only reason I played Texas, it just made me feel better about it. I would never just blindly play the other side without other reasons.

With that said, this board is wrong a lot more than they are right. Especially when you see a lot of GOY type threads pop up.
