    Mulder put on dl

You knew something wasn't right when the White Sox tagged him for 13 earned runs the other day.

Left-hander Mark Mulder went on the 15-day disabled list with a shoulder strain.

Whenever somebody gets rocked...they must be tipping their pitches.

Was camera tipping off White Sox to pitches?
    ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH
    06/23/2006

CHICAGO -- If the Cardinals never solved Freddy Garcia in a 1-0 loss Thursday night, they may have settled a conspiracy.

The White Sox were 40-for-88 with 15 extra-base hits and 33 runs the first two games of the series. The outburst not only heightened suspicion that Mark Mulder wasn't sound, but also that the White Sox dugout may have been exercising gamesmanship.

During Wednesday's rout, the Cardinals dugout became convinced a center-field camera at U.S. Cellular Field was tipping pitches to the home team.

Signs were changed after the fifth inning, and the White Sox went four for 36 with one extra-base hit and one run after the switch.

"Let's put it this way," one Cardinals source said Thursday night. "They looked like they knew what was coming the first two nights. They looked like they had no idea tonight.

    "You figure it out."

They already had the game in hand after the 5th that's why they went 4 for whatever. The Cardinals simply got thumped.

MRI shows Cards' Mulder has rotator cuff issues

It looks like his was injured afterall.

DETROIT -- St. Louis Cardinals left-hander Mark Mulder has rotator cuff inflammation and irritation in his left shoulder, an MRI revealed.

The Cardinals plan to re-examine Mulder's shoulder in about a week, and haven't set a timetable on his return. Mulder was supposed to start Sunday, but Sidney Ponson took his spot in the rotation against the Tigers.

Mulder was put on the 15-day disabled list Thursday because of a shoulder strain after giving up nine runs in 2 1/3 innings against the Chicago White Sox.

"When you throw that bull I was throwing up there, it's not going to get it done," Mulder said after the poor outing.

Mulder is 6-5 this season -- after starting 5-1 -- with a 6.09 ERA. He was 16-8 last season, his first in St. Louis after pitching five seasons for Oakland. The 28-year-old Mulder has a career record of 103-55 with a 4.03 ERA.
