    MLB Trivia - 6/22/06

Should be a fairly easy one...who is the only father-son tandem to hit for the cycle during their major league careers?

    We have a winner...

Gary Ward hit for the cycle on Sept 18, 1980, for the Twins in a 9-8 loss to the Brewers in Milwaukee. He opened the game with a leadoff double for Minnesota in the top of the 1st off Mike Caldwell, followed with a single in the 3rd and homered in the fifth (off Caldwell), then completed the cycle in the 7th with a triple off Milwaukee reliever Reggie Cleveland.

Son Daryle collected his cycle on May 26, 2004, in the Pirates' 11-8 win over the Cardinals in since-closed Busch II. Like his dad, Daryle started his game off with a double in the 1st (off Jason Marquis), then tripled in the 4th and homered in the 5th (both off Kiko Calero), before finishing off the cycle with a single in the top of the 9th off Steve Kline.

    Good answer, stumpage
