Stephen Strasburg on the mound for Nationals (09/06)

So wonder arm out of San Diego State comes back from Tommy John and makes his 2011 season debut against the Dodgers.
Ted Lilly on the mound for the Dodgers.
Dodger's bats have been calm as of last 2 games.
    Nats bats have been hot.

    What's your play????

Taking my chances with the Dodgers bats getting hot and hammering the tt. I think strasburg struggles a bit but gets left in regardless...I expct a few walks meaning men on base when the Dodgers go yard.

I believe Strasburg is going to be on an extreme pitch count (60?).

theres no way the nats would bring him back an inning to soon before he was ready, he had his ups and downs in the minors working stuff out, but his last start in triple a was great, he had a ll of his stuff working for him, his speed, location, the guy probably is on a pitch count which might limit him back but i say he goes 5-6 innings. Strong innings around 8-10 strike outs.

I looked at the line I was shocked nats are -151

Rule of thumb always fade a pitcher coming off the DL

Will probably be on a low pitch count but will get hammered anyway. Possible big play on dodgers. The back tag is too good to pass up

    Middle 90's.

I think Matt Kemp will be the only one getting good hits off of him.

mid 90s? his fastball has touched 98 in the minors from what ESPN said. Tommy John surgery is such a technical procedure now, he is probably in better shape, and stronger then he has ever been in his life.

50-60 pitches? I was thinking more of the lines of 80.

Just checked and he threw 70 pitches in his last minor league start that I could find.

This is the best thing I've read about where he's at

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/...Tn5J_blog.html

keep in mind that the game might get postponed....and if they play he might get scratched.

And I'll agree with lakerboy....good luck if you play this but you're crazy if you do

best bet as to what i can see is "no score" first inning. Straus will be out to prove himself and Tilly is a lefty who has great numbers the last five games...besides pitching from the left will throw the batting order off a little and this way the rain plays no factor in the end.

I expected them to leave in Strasburg for more than 50 pitches. Then they put in a minor league pitcher making his MLB debut with a 3-0 lead and he gets shelled, he has given up a hit or walk to every batter he has faced so far. Ugh, killed the under which was looking pretty good.
