idk, the phills were without utley for half of the year so far and long stretches with no brown and their two all star victorinos and polanco... yet still have better batting numbers then the braves. Both teams can get hot, but both can go very cold as well... pretty similar

Braves can't match Phillies in hitting or pitching. I don't think managing and defense will even it out. If Phillies are -145 or -150 vs Braves I am going in headfirst with both barrels loaded.

The good news for all Braves haters is you have 7 innings to beat us....because you sure as hell won't do it in the 8th or 9th.

1 through 5 in the lineup the phills are better... braves are stronger 6 and 7... phills take the 9 spot... so phills take 6 of 8...

phills are better 1 through 5 in the rotation when all healthy...

    braves have the better pen

    phills have the better manager

    phills play better defense

why not? have you not watched madson or bastardo this season?

all the phills pitchers need to do is go 7... if they go less then that, then yes you are right, they are screwed

Yes I just saw Madson almost choke away a 8 run lead to the Mets, I have seen your bullpen. The two combined have something like 20/21 saves compared to Kimbo's NL LEAGUE tying 28 saves...I guess you win. Its not hard to have your rotation and only have to rely on your bullpen to get 1 out a game. Im not disputing the Phills have the better starting Rot.

and when it comes to the pen, the braves is better overall... but speaking strictly of the 8th and 9th with the game on the line, the guys that will be in are bastardo/madson and venters/kimbrel. Combined era and whip bastardo and madson have been better. Venters and kimbrel have a lot of innings as well which could catch up come october.

today seems like a bad day to argue for the phils, they're getting embarrassed by the cubs in the worst way right now

since coming back from the dl for a month, you are supposed to be on your A game immediately right?

That amount of saves is not something to brag about.. he has also blown 5 times as many as the phills team basically as a whole. All those innings are not a good things to have under your belt this early

too hot to argue but i know after today there will be a 2.5 game difference so with every player on the philly roster is better than every player on the braves roster wouldn't the phils have at least a 10 game lead?

not saying much better, but i think it is tough to argue with the 1-5 spot and the 9 spot.. the braves are very good and it will be a fun nlcs. both teams are basically locked into a playoff spot, so the battle for home field should be fun

Honestly you lose the "TIRED" comment on my ears...thats just spewing ESPN content back on the forums....Kimbrel is 23 years old as is on record setting pace for saves at his age...believe he tied Papelbon or some shit for most saves 1st half....he's gonna be just fine come October

he and venters will be the best 8/9 combo for the next 5 years.. id take them over bastardo and madson hands down (even tho madson and bastardo have also been great). Over his career he will be fine. But a lot of innings over the course of a season catches up to you late in that same season regardless of age.. and a rookie in a high pressure situation is always scary.. He wont be in the game much though when they see the phills in the nlcs anyway though, so that inning count wont matter

no doubt that would be huge for them vs this philly team.. and the phills need a right handed bat unless mayberry can continue his recent surge

Have braves +608 to win nnl pennant. I like my chances. Phils will find a way to choke. People love the phils pitching but they can't hit. People still think the phils lineup is the same as the year they won the series. Giants with a similar teamm to atl beat the phils last year. No reason barring injuries why atl can't go to the ws.
