    Pluthero's Picks

I'll be posting my picks here just to keep myself honest. I tried this last year after some early success but quickly got buried and lost faith. All plays will be 1 unit unless posted otherwise. Here we go, 7/5/2011...

    Yankees @ Indians Over 8 (-105)
    Braves -1.5 (+170)

Man you got a tough ump and a pitcher atl hasnt seen. Would hate to lay 1.5 in that game.

Would like to hear what you think of the nyy/cle total as i lean the other way, even tho i almost always bet nyy tt ov when CC pitches.

    BOL

With regards to Atlanta, both Tulowitzki and Gonzalez should be out of the Rockies lineup and the Braves have been on fire for the past two weeks. Chacin got hammered his last turn through and Lowe looked like he may be turning it around with his last start (though it was against Seattle).

As far as the over goes, the Yanks have scored fewer than 4 runs only twice in their previous nine and the Indians have done the same in 1 of their previous 7. I don't think either pitcher is as good as his ERA indicates and they're throwing in a semi-hitter's ballpark. Carrasco has been excellent lately though, which worries me a little. Hopefully Rivera's injury either keeps him out of the ballgame or renders him ineffective.

    BOL to you as well.

yea i heard no Tulo or Gonzo and Chacin has certainly had his issues, but braves have not seen him and with Diaz behind the plate he will really have to be wild to be walking all the ppl he has lately. Cant argue Braves are putting up a few more runs recently (thought they really looked good in sea) and i did play them yesterday. Not saying i like Rox here as much as im saying that 1.5 would scare me and not like the juice is high to play atl ml.

    just some thoughts.

I appreciate that. You're right that the juice isn't too high to play Atlanta on the ml, but I like to play the runline and get the better odds. It probably goes against conventional wisdom, but it makes the game a little more exciting to watch. When the time comes that I find I'm losing money because of the runline I'll definitely be changing my strategy.

Nothing sucks worse that to play the +$ RL in a game only to find out the team (CWS yesterday in my case) won but only by one run. It's like winning w/o getting a prize or having a birthday with no cake. I'd rather the team lose the game than to win by only one when I'm on the RL. Nauseating. There are some teams I just dont trust on the RL, the braves being one of those teams! Guess I'm moving the CWS to that category too!

Thanks man. It's been said before but bears repeating, I'd rather be lucky than good.

I'm on the Dodgers too. Pelfrey's due for a collapse any minute.......

What's interesting is that The Coliseum is playing like a hitter's park so far this year. It's probably just small sample size but worth noting anyhow.

Both losses were would have been wins had I played the ML. I might need to rethink my strategy.
