He can still help them against lefties only he is still solid, but if they play him everyday no chance to win.

yankee's aren't any better with Nunez in the lineup -- the only real benifit they get is that they dont feel the need to put a crappy hitter at the top of the lineup/

Nunez had more extra base hits today than Jeter will have the rest of his career

Can Arod still play short? Maybe they move him there for the playoffs, might not be great but probably better than the other two guys.

14-3 without jeter. he kills them hitting at the top of the lineup. put the double play machine batting 9th and all will be good

They are better w/o him. The guy has zero pop in his bat and has terrible range. Nunez look like he can hit a bit, but is a horrible defensive ss.

You guys look at the standings for 20 games and throw out a yankee legend. I bet everyone of you gave up on Ortiz two years ago. Nunez has been good, but again it's a small sample size. And lets not make him out to be Babe Ruth. Plus he throws the ball around a bit. I'll still take Jeter in the lineup everyday.

Ticket sales, and TV views probably down. WOMEN love JETER. Seriously, you dont know how many women will just turn on the TV to watch him.

Its like us and the Miss America Pageant.

Playing sound defensive shortstop is just as important as hitting.
I watch 140 NYY games a year, I like Nunez's bat, however defensively he's beyond brutal, he struggles with the routine ground ball, and some of hit throws are erratic at best.

Shortstop is the most important position the diamond, and he butchers it, like Gary Templeton did 20 years ago.

Good point Jeter is still solid at SS. I just they would move him down in the lineup cause that is whats best for the team.

    More than solid at SS.

There's a reason why Jeter has won multiple gold gloves.
That's because everything hit to him his 'gold'
Does Jeter have the best range factor out of all the regular shortstops in the bigs?
The answer is no, Tulo, Escobar, and Rony Cedeno have the best range in the majors regarding shortstops, they are the only ones with range factors over 5.0, the fact of the matter is Jeter has limited range, however he turns the 6-4-3 better then most of them, he turns the DP flawlessly, he makes maybe three at most brain farts in the field per season, he's tremendous going out to short left on pop ups, he knows exactly where to position himself with a cut off throw from the outfield, he knows exactly what to do with the ball once receiving the cut off throw, he's a master of the decoy.........

Here's something most of the Jeter haters don't know.
Jeter is the league leader regarding zone rating.
He's been the best or near the top of the league in zone ratings regarding short stops for the past 15 years.

Simply put, zone ratings is the percentage of balls fielded by a player in his typical defensive "zone", Han-Ram is second in zone rating, and he's not even close.
In other words, anything hit in Jeter's zone, will be fielded cleanly and the out will be completed.
He doesn't have Ozzie Smith flash, got to love the jump throw though, but nobody makes the routine play at SS better than Jeter, to argue this is ignorant.

Will he hit .320 again with 210+ base hits, probably not, but at the end of the day he'll still wind up around .280

One last point, championships are won with shortstops that play solid defense, not shortstops that are butchers on defense.

Big Red Machine won with Concepcion at short.
Tigers won with Trammel at short.
    Cards won with Ozzie.

Name me one World Series Champ that had a butcher at short.
    You can't.

    Nashy ... Yanks won titles
    Because of Rivera only

Jeter had balls to say it is easy to bench Nunez when Jeter comes back even though Yanks 14-3 without him

    Gave him no credit

Jeter is most sellfish person ever to play. It's all about him.

Rivera pitches one inning, now he's the best one inning closer that ever lived, but Tino, Scotty, Paulie, Bernie, etc. etc. etc. had just a little something to to with all those titles.

    JJ

Just World Series games, OK, not playoffs, just WS games.

Jeter has played in 38 WS games, been to the plate 173 times, 156 of them are official at-bats, has 50 hits which is .321 with a lofty on base percentage of .384, hit 3 homers, and for you jokers out there, has hit into 5 WS double plays, which is about one every 8 WS games.

JJ, you are better than that to say Mo is the only reason they won all those rings.
Look at his WS numbers Real close, he's one of the best WS performers ever.
