    Nats or Mariners?

I've been in a horrible streak. I've only won one out of my last 5 games and that was a chase play on the Giants last night.

At first I liked the Nats but then I changed my mind to the Mariners.

That being said, Marquis has been a very profitable pitcher and the Nats are red hot. It's hard to go against them.

Personally, I'm liking Seattle, no run first inning, and the under. With the way things have been going I feel like I should fade myself.

I'm liking the Nats and Over myself. Nats, like you said, are red hot and Washington has won Marquis last 4 starts overall. Think Pineda gets knocked around a little today on the road.

I'm gonna ride the Nats train for a while. I think they get this one today.

M's bats are very hot/cold. Pineda is the next great pitcher.....but he isn't there yet. I would think this is an excellent game to stay away from.

Thanks for the input. I think I'll just stay away. Sometimes the best play is no play.

We're in the same boat, buddy. Awful streak, but on the M's. Uh-oh.

Don't doubt yourself M's backers. Marquis will get owned by M's bats more than Pineda will against Nat's bats. Hopefully M's manager will leave Figgins out of the lineup because he's terrible on both sides of the ball.

Pineda's biggest weakness is that he's primarily just a two pitch pitcher (Fastball, slider). He doesn't have the confidence in his changeup to throw it deep into the count. Pitchers that rely on a small array of options (no matter how good those options are) will ultimately regress as teams catch up to them over time, honing in on the limited pitch selection available. Pineda is absolutely not the next great pitcher in baseball until he adds a splitter or really develops his changeup to the point that he can throw it effectively in any pitch count...

That being said, I like Seattle today. Nats are going for the sweep but have in no way dominated the Mariners in this series. They needed a miraculous 5 run 9th inning comeback in the first game, and won a close game yesterday on the strength of 2 unearned runs while otherwise being dominated by Bedard for the first 6 innings, who struck out 10 in that span. Additionally, the Nats hitters are not great against the slider, which is Pineda's primary "out" pitch. Only Wilson Ramos hits it well, and i will not be surprised if Pineda racks up 8+ strikeouts today.

WTF Riggleman?! Hot Humid day, Marquis starting to show some fatigue trouble last couple of innings, BP ready. Gotta hit for him there. Too few chances in this game to not make the move there.
