they have three chances. #1 CC wins every game he pitches the rest of the year, zero losses. #2 they buy pitchers by the deadline (will happen) #3 colon eats less meatballs and garcia finds a way to give up less hits than innings pitched, which would be a miracle. if none of these happen the yankees cannot make the playoffs with their current pitching staff, sorry it isn't happening. 162 games or 433 games, won't matter.

Can't score runs if you don't get on base.

Would you rather have a player with mediocre power that hits .290 with a .315 on base percentage.
Or a hitter with mediocre power that hits .270 with a .355 on base percentage?

In 1996 Ricky Henderson hit .241, but had a .410 on base percentage.
Know how many runs he scored? 110.
110 times he crossed the plate playing for a crappy SD team, now was the result of those 110 runs scored due to that lofty .241 batting average?

    Short answer, no.

David Wells told Phil Hughes the best way to overcome a "dead arm" is a 6-pack, or a 5th of Hennessey.

You make a good point, the good two way sports white guys coming out of college is not choosing baseball anymore, the good two way baseball players that can both hit *and* pitch, they go the pitching route.

Baseball has dramatically changed to pitching from hitting.

There are only three teams that have feared 3-4-5 hitters in the line up, and only about 5 teams that can boast a feared 3-4 middle of the order.

Posada thinks he is 24 years old

He is not even a mlb player anymore, Yanks should grow some balls and release him

JJ I tend to agree with you. NYY are my team but they look flat and I just don't feel that they are a playoff team at all. They need to do something to shake up the team. Like a big trade with several players IMO.

Right side of the infield is fine, left side of the infield is old, Martin, when healthy is a top 5 catcher, Grandy is playing all world baseball, in the field and at the plate, Swisher is a B- player, he's pretty good, but that's about it, the starters are two parts fat, two parts head cases, relivers are fine, Gardner is the fastest white guy that ever lived, no power though.................

88 win team, will battle for the WC spot.

If Jeter heats up some more at the plate, which will set the table for Tex, Cano, and Rodgriquez, Jeter on top of the order getting on is key.

They certainly have a lot of issues right now, particularly in the pitching dept. Expect them to play a lot of 10-8 games.

Yeah, the Yanks are done. They've lost six in a row and 10 out of their last 13. No team has ever done well after going through a rough stretch like that. No team can recover from that, right? It's already May 17 and the Yanks are in serious trouble. Of course, it's not like the Red Sox started 0-6 on the way to a 3-10 start this season or anything, right?

When a team depends so much on the Longball droughts like this will happen. They are also old and got a shit pitching staff.

Jeter I love the guy but he needs to hang it up. the man is a double play machine.
Gardner I like this guy but just not made for a team like the Yanks need to trade him at the deadline to get something.

If I was the Yanks I would do everything I could to go after a guy like Matt Kemp at the trade deadline. The Dodgers are struggling with their payroll and might be willing to give him up.
