Indians will win vs. Angels tonight and Why!

Cleveland (7-2) has won seven straight to take the early lead in the AL Central.Coming off a three-game home sweep of Boston, the Indians outscored the Mariners 20-8 to sweep Seattle, including a 6-4 win on Sunday. The Indians averaged 5.8 runs per game this season with a staff ERA of 1.86 during the winning streak

Mitch Talbot (0-0, 4.15 ERA) will start for the Indians after giving up two runs and striking out seven batters in 4 1/3 innings in the 8-4 win over Boston last Wednesday.Talbot was solid in his only previous appearance versus Los Angeles, allowing one run in 6 1/3 innings of a 9-2 win in Anaheim last April 27.

The Angels have called up 21-year-old right-hander Tyler Chatwood to make his major league debut tonight.A second-round pick from the 2008 draft, Chatwood earned the promotion despite having only 6 2/3 innings of Triple-A experience. Chatwood was pulled from his season debut for Triple-A Salt Lake after just one inning and 18 pitches Saturday. The Angels’ second-round pick in 2008, Chatwood went 4-6 with a 3.82 ERA for Double-A Arkansas last year.

    ANGELS BULLPEN IS DEPLETED!!!
Less than 24 hours after using all seven of his relievers for the second time in four games to grind out a 14-inning victory -- with starter Dan Haren as his last pitcher -- Angels manager Mike Scioscia needed Jered Weaver to pitch deep into the game in his first home start of the season. The ace right-hander more than obliged, striking out a career-high 15 over 7 2/3 innings Sunday in a 3-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Angels will be without shortstop Erick Aybar for the series after he was placed on the disabled list with a strained oblique muscle. The Indians held a 5-4 edge in last season's series. The teams split six meetings in Anaheim.

With an inexperienced rookie making his first start in the majors and a tired Angels bullpen, and a red hot hitting team like the Indians right now, It will be a solid value play to take the Indians ML +118. I am going to make a 3 unit play on the ML+118 for the Cleveland Indians, and look for them to continue their 7 game win streak.

Solid write-up, I was already feeling good about my Indians bet but this is just some more insurance.

nice write-up, go Tribe! it's been a great week and a half so far for the friends of the feathered. there have been some fine moments (like Asdrubal's suicide squeeze), but perhaps none better than Hafner drawing an intentional walk Saturday night....in the fourth inning of a scoreless game. Eric Wedge, he keeps on giving.

Travis Hafner, DH of the Indians, looks like a serial killer @the plate. Those biceps dont belong on the baseball field, and that blank stare.....

yea usually taking the unknown pitcher getting called up works well but from what I read Chatwood is nothing special, has anybody seen anything different?

all of his favorite athletes are pro wrestlers. he was also valedictorian of a high school class of 12 kids at a school that was closed about five years ago due to lack of students. true story.

you're right about the blank stare. i'm just glad he's hitting again, but i spit Jameson's all over the place when Wedge gave him the intentional pass in the 4th Saturday night. Wedge was clearly still using a scouting report from 3-4 years ago, and the best part is, he was around to witness first-hand Hafner's post-steroid deflation and much of his 30-month slump.

Chatwood's is highly regarded by the Angels. I prefer him over Talbot any day but think the over is a good play tonight in this one.
He is their best pitching prospect, was a 2nd round pick in the 2008 draft out of high school and has moved up rapidly.

He is only 21 so I would expect he may be wild and did not have a great spring nor first start in triple A but he seems like a legit prospect.

"Chatwood has frontline starter potential, but his poor command could eventually relegate him to the bullpen in the long term. While he has improved his horrific walk rate in his three pro seasons, his strikeout rate has suffered.

Tough to make plays when pitchers are getting their 1st major league starts. Never know how they will respond. That being said, taking a rookie as a -125 favorite is ever harder to fathom.

Just as I posted, Cash the pick boys!Hope you all made some money of the Indians along with me tonight. I knew that rookie would give up a few homers. I now caution you to bet on the Indians for the rest of this series. They are showing signs of cooling off at the plate, and Carmona can be very unreliable on the mound. Carmona gets the start tomorrow and he scares me. He pitched very well his last outing but could give up 7 runs this time around, you never know with him. I made a 5 unit play also on the Indians as well at +1.5 so I cashed the ML play and the spread play for a total of a 7 unit win tonight on the Tribe.

Indians are playing very good ball this season so far, but lets not get ahead of ourselves. They still need production out of Choo, and their young catcher Santana has all star abilities but is a long way off because he is so agressive at the plate and is now starting to slump. DH Hafner cannot put up .375 average all season, he has struggled the last 3 seasons and went 1-4 last night I believe, also Orlando Cabrera 2b is hitting like .365 but that is above his career average. They will finish behind Minnesota and most likely Chicago in the division this year, and this is not biased because I am an Indians fan.
