Going to be a long year for Red Sux fans

This team is flat out bad.

    Not an aberration.

Absolutely no pitching. Youk looks like he has stopped juicing. Bat speed is dead. beckett sucks. lester sucks. dice k sucks. ellsbury sucks. scutaro is a nice little kid. somebody better get youk back on steroids stat.

look at the bright side. spend another 250 milli this offseason on maybe some pitching.

    here is looking to 2012.

I say they win 80-85 games

Owners need to stop over paying players as there are guys in minors just as good as so called MLB stars

hahah! OMG this is actually funny. Come back in September and in the meantime let's make a bet on which month Jeter is out at shortstop leaning on a cane? Ya, because that was some wise money the Yankees spent wasn't it? he was given a day off 4 games into the season (ended up a rain out anyways)...it's not 1998 anymore

Marlins do it all the time, and have multiple titles to prove it.

You give a guy like CC a huge contract -- and all the money is guaranteed -- you aren't going to get the production you signed up for. He'll pull up lame with some hamstring injury pretty soon.

You think someone making his bank gives a f\*\*k now about winning or losing?

Build up your scouts and farm system and go with the young kids before they get the huge money. Rinse, recycle, repeat. That's the way to go.

Why? Because you don't understand it? I guess that's a good enough reason. I don't understand what nuclear-physicists do, so therefore it's not a science.

OK Honestly, I would have been OK with paying him his millions as a red sox fan just for the joy of watching him take ONE at bat in yankee stadium with a red sox jersey on. then just trade the bitch...

I wont even bother reading this thread. ANY person that is calling the Red Sox a bad team doesn't know anything about baseball. The Yankees had an awful start the year they won a record 114 games. Its funny how you talk so much in April, but come playoff time, you choke and cry. You will always be known as the BIGGEST choke team of all time, so enjoy that morons.

When did they go after Jeter? And let's be honest... they only tried to get Rivera to mess with the Yankees

Stop, I come from a 70 year Yankee family.
Cashman told Jeter "maybe you should shop around if you think you can get a better offer"
I have no idea where you got this Mo nonsense from.

Just stop, you are embarrassing yourself.

This is not the NFL, where every game counts. MLB/NBA both have a bloated schedule that allows for a good amount of meaningless games.

1-7 is not a "rally" killer

Oh really? Are you privvy to info that no one else has? New York tabloids said Jeter could join the Sox, that's it.

And why would I want a guy with 1, maybe 2 years left? Sure, I would rather have him than face him in the playoffs, but it would've been stupid to sign him.

You too, just stop, this statement is just ignorant.

    CC was 106-71 for Cleveland.
He was 35 over .500 for one of the crappiest teams the majors ever saw.
Those are like Steve Carlton numbers when he pitched for the crappy Phils.
    You kidding me ?!

    Vastly overrated

Then CC went from a putrid Indian team to a pretty good Brewer team, all he did there was go 11-2 with a 1.65 earned run average.

Then he went from a pretty good Brewer team to a real good Yankee team, all he did there in 2 years was win 19 games then follow that up with 21 wins.

He pitched last year to a 3 earned run average when the rest of the league was pushing five.
He has a three earned run average in a masher division.
    He's 40-15 as a Yankee.

    He's a 4 time all star
He's a Cy Young award winner for the Indians.
He's finished in the top 5 in Cy Young voting 3 other times.

    He's 7-4 in post season

    Just stop.

I saw Britt Burns in '83 as a White Sox, sitting behind third base pitch a 1 hitter and lose to Dave Righetti as a starter for the NYY who pitched a 2 hitter.
This is how Burns lost 1-0
    Walk, balk, single.
    1-0
    What's your point dude.

Red Sox never made an offer to Mo.
They did to Bernie, never to Mo.
