    he doesn't compare to Pujols.

Cards obviously aren't making the playoffs and the Phillies likely are, but they aren't comparable.

ONly if they win the east, then yes, he will get it
only if they win the east
    sept is weighted more heavily
obviously pujols and berkman are better
but if they win the division, he will get it

I'd put money on Howard not winning MVP.

The Phillies probably have a 60% chance of winning the division, and I say that anyway.

so if they win the division, who gets mvp? i am aware of the numbers
but the voters will hand it to him if he has a 12 hr month and they win the east

    just watch

I don't know who Jayson Stark and Peter Gammons are voting for, but I hope the writers have more sense than to vote for a guy with a .866 OPS, who plays a defensively unimportant position, and plays it poorly.

    Would you vote for him?

he is a bad fielder but he is a better fielder than prince and delgado by a mile.
    now, as for mvp candidates
the cards are in 4th, so how does poo get it? berkmans numbers have fallen off since lee got hurt, and they are a 3rd place team
the phils win that division, how does he not get it

who is it you give it to? the only guys who can get it have to be on first or near first place teams. i think, if they win the div, he gets it, i am fairly sure, if he has a big month

I never bought into the MVP has to be on a first place team. And I don't think there is any way he gets it.

I would give it to Berkman myself, with Pujols being second.

i would not give it to those dudes over howard
i would prefer the team wins, but i see your pt

the point i meant to make is that the voters will give it to howard, whether they should or not is another point

but i will bet money they do, if the win nleast

My top 10 would be, Berkman, Pujols, H. Ramirez, Utley, Braun, Wright, Beltran, Holliday, Aramis Ramirez, McLouth.

Pujols has carried what was expected to be a poor team to what will be a winning record. He's batting .360 with a .465 OBP. 5 errors on the year.

I don't have anyone close to him.

Hanley Ramirez would be second for me, then Lance Berkman.

McLouth has a higher, OPS and plays a decent CF.

Holliday has and .895 OPS away from Coors, plays a decent LF, and lets no pretend Howard plays in Petco or anything.

Ramirez, plays very good defense, and has a higher OPS than Howard

Beltran is the same as McLouth, same OPS as Howard, plays a very good CF.

As far as 1st basemen go Howard has the sixth highest OPS, and plays poor defense. Doesn't sound like an MVP to me.

I hear, I am just a big fan of Berkman, kind of a "who do I like more pick."

Ryan, the only arguement that Howard has over any of the guys I listed is that he is on a winning team. If you can come up with another one I would like to hear it.
