- Asian handicap specialist
- Live betting with cash out option
- Wide range of sports covered
- Long history of paying out on time
- Unattractive bonus terms
SBOBet is a global online sportsbook operator with a large number of customers in Asia, Europe and Canada. Parent company Celton Manx Ltd. is based on the Isle of Man, just off the coast of England, and it also has an Asian headquarters in the Philippines. SBOBet has regularly been named Asian Operator of the Year at prestigious industry awards, and it is a specialist in Asian handicaps, but it is also gaining traction in western markets like Canada. It has shot to prominence around the world by becoming the shirt sponsor of Premier League team West Ham. The firm is licensed by the Isle of Man and the Government of the Republic of the Philippines.
This online betting site holds an A- rating in our review guide, which means it is one of the world’s best sportsbooks. The very top tier features the likes of Bovada and BetOnline, and SBOBet is on course to join that elite group if it continues to impress our reviewers. It offers competitive odds on a huge range of sports, and the overall user experience at the site is superb. The major downside is the welcome bonus, which does not stack up against those offered by many of the rival betting sites that we review, but overall this is a very strong sports betting operator.
You can benefit from multilingual customer service on a 24/7 basis, 365 days a year, if you join SBOBet. We tested out the customer service department for this SBOBet review and the level of professionalism on display impressed us. You can choose from live chat, phone, email and even Skype when seeking customer support. SBOBet has highly trained customer service representatives that will be happy to answer a wide range of questions in a courteous and helpful manner.
You can access the live chat function by clicking on the option at the top right of the screen. We were put through to representatives very quickly, even when we made requests at peak times, and the phone service was also very quick to respond to our questions. There is also a detailed FAQ section of the SBOBet betting site, which explains the various deposit methods, rules around betting odds and so on. Overall, we cannot fault the level of customer support on offer at SBOBet.
SBOBet’s live betting platform is one of the best in the business, and their bonus program helps set them apart from most sportsbooks.
SBOBet offers two different welcome bonuses. The most attractive sign-up bonus is only available to users in China, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, South Korea, Thailand or Vietnam. They can enjoy a 100% welcome bonus, which comes with an 18x rollover requirement. The upper limit differs per country. Japanese bettors can receive up to 15,000 yen, which is equivalent to around $140, whereas Indonesian customers can earn up to 650,000 rupiah, which is about $44.
The first deposit terms are not so generous for customers in Europe and the Americas. You will receive a 15% matched deposit bonus on your first deposit, worth up to €200. If you are using an alternative currency, such as Canadian dollars, it will be the equivalent of €200. To receive the full €200, you would have to deposit €1,333.33 of your own money. You will only receive the bonus once you complete a 14x rollover of the qualifying deposit amount, so you would need to place more than €18,000 worth of bets just to receive a €200 free bet. It hardly seems worth bothering with.
SBOBet is a global operator and it covers a huge range of sports from around the world. The number one sport appears to be football (soccer), which is displayed prominently at the top of the list of events on the homepage. You can enjoy coverage of a wide array of tournaments, from big tournaments like the Premier League, Serie A, La Liga, the Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and MLS to events in niche countries like Bahrain. It goes down to the lower leagues too, not just in England and Germany but also in the likes of Sweden, Finland and Austria.
SBOBet really specializes in Asian handicap betting. You will find a wealth of different Asian handicap lines on big soccer matches, and you can also bet on Asian total goals markets, which is rare. It also offers betting options such as correct score, half-time / full-time, half betting and double chance, but you will not find many player props at SBOBet.
The US sports are also covered in excellent depth at SBOBet, with a particular focus on basketball and baseball. North American bettors will find decent coverage of NFL, NHL and UFC. Once again, handicap lines come to the fore on NBA games. You can choose from an impressive array of different lines. For example, you might find 1.86 on the Boston Celtic -3 in a game against the Toronto Raptors, and 2.04 on the Raptors +3 (odds are all in decimal format). You could alternatively find 1.93 on the Celtics -3.5, or 1.78 on the Celtics -2.5. It also offers handicap lines on head-to-head total points betting between opposing players. For example, you could bet on Jayson Tatum +0.5 at 1.80 or Pascal Siakam -0.5 at 2.04.
SBOBet starts off by listing the most important sports for its users. At the time of this review, SBOBet had football, basketball, baseball and tennis at the top. March Madness is on offer too. The other sports covered at SBOBet are listed in alphabetical order down the page: American football, athletics, Aussie Rules football, badminton, bandy, beach soccer, boxing, cricket, cycling, darts, esports, field hockey, futsal, Gaelic football, golf, handball, hurling, ice hockey, lacrosse, MMA, motor sport, Muay Thai, pool/snooker, rugby, squash, table tennis, volleyball, water polo and winter sports. Very few sportsbooks offer coverage of squash, pool, beach football, bandy and futsal, so SBOBet must be applauded for its depth of coverage.
You can also wager on financial props, entertainment and specials at the SBO sports betting site, but you will not find politics betting. Esports on offer include FIFA 20 and sports sims. A tab allows you to switch to live betting, which is an impressive product. You can bet in-play on a variety of games across multiple sports, and it has a cash out function to put you in control of your wager. The odds are updated continuously, and you can quickly place bets. SBOBet TV also provides live streaming, allowing you to watch the action live while betting on it. Very few sports betting operators provide live streaming within their live betting sections, so SBOBet deserves credit for investing in it.
Sports Betting Experience
Lots of smiling, scantily clad Asian women greet you when you land on the SBOBet homepage. You can learn more about the various promotions, watch a video about SBOBet, access a regularly updated blog or visit the sportsbook, virtual sports section, live casino, casino games or racing sections. The color scheme is blue and the pages are pretty lively. Yet SBOBet manages to pack in a lot of information on each page without the site ever really feeling cluttered.
The user experience is excellent. You can navigate quickly through the various pages, and the bet slip is simple to use. One helpful addition would be a search bar, which would make it quicker to find the games you want to bet on, but it does not take too long to find wagering options. We found we could land on the homepage and then add a selection to the bet slip within six clicks when conducting this review. You then simply insert the amount you wish to wager and confirm the bet.
Quality of Odds
The quality of the betting odds is one of the main strengths at SBOBet. It does not specifically offer reduced juice lines, but you can find all manner of unique betting odds on different spread lines and totals lines on a wide range of sports. It has great Asian handicap odds on soccer and other sports. We also compared the SBOBet moneyline odds against the market and found them to be very competitive on the whole.
Mobile Betting Review
You can access a fully optimized SBOBet mobile site from your browser on any iOS, Android or Windows Phone device. Navigation is simple and effective. You can place bets within around six or seven taps of the finger. Pages load quickly and the bet slip is sharp and responsive, which is important when you are seizing upon live wagering odds. This is one of the better mobile sites that we have reviewed.
SBOBet has a reasonably strong online casino section. Once again you will note that Asian bettors are the key target for the site, and you can enjoy plenty of Asian games, such as Dragon Bonus Fortune Six, Mahjong Mazzetti Hi-Lo and Baccarat Babes. You will find a decent amount of slots, from classic games to new releases, and SBOBet has offers roulette, baccarat, Sic Bo and Super Six baccarat at its live casino. A greater variety of live casino games would be one way for SBOBet to improve. The racing section is very impressive, with coverage of all UK and Irish racing, plus key races from the USA, Canada, South Africa and UAE.
SBOBet has a reputation for treating customers fairly and paying out all withdrawal requests in a timely fashion. It has no security breaches in its history, and you can rest assured that this is a safe, secure, reliable, trustworthy sportsbook operator. It covers a huge range of sports, and specializes in Asian handicaps and live wagering, while providing an excellent user experience. The bonus structure leaves a little to be desired, but overall SBOBet is fully deserving of its A- rating and we can recommend you sign up for an account.

SBObet withdraws from UK gambling market
SBObet Sportsbook (SBR rating A-) will no longer service UK based gamblers as of September 15, 2014. In an email released to players concerning the decision, SBObet stated that the move comes on the heels of legislative changes in the clients’ country of residence pertaining to online gambling. The Gambling (Licensing and Advertising) Act is set to take effect on October 1. Sportsbook Review has reached out to SBObet for comment on the business decision. It is likely that additional operators who may not wish to shoulder a higher tax burden associated with servicing the UK online gambling market may similarly opt to shut-down shop in the UK.
UK based SBObet players are asked to withdraw their funds as soon as possible. Players who do not take action by September 30, 2014, will have their balances sent out to their last selected payment option. Outstanding bets will all be honored.
The full SBObet statement received by players can be seen below:
It is with regret that we wish to advise you that we are no longer able to continue to offer you the betting services with SBOBET.
This unfortunate circumstance has been brought about by the changes to the legislation in your country of residence with regard to online gambling. Unfortunately, it will now be necessary to close your SBOBET Account with effect from 15 September 2014.
However, all outstanding bets you have already placed for events scheduled after 15 September 2014 will not be affected and will be settled once they have been determined. In this event, your Account will remain available for login after 15 September 2014, solely for the purposes of withdrawal of funds but no further betting can be carried out. If you have any funds remaining in your SBOBET Account, the Account will remain accessible to you for the purposes of withdrawing funds. Kindly sign in, check your balance and make your withdrawal request immediately.
For Accounts with no outstanding bets, if we do not receive a withdrawal request by 30 September 2014, it will be necessary for us to close your SBOBET Account and arrange for the remaining funds to be returned to you via your current nominated payment option.
We wish to take this opportunity to thank you for your fantastic support in the past and would be more than pleased to be of service to you again in the event that there is a change in the regulatory landscape of your country of residence.
SBObet players with feedback are encouraged to write to firstname.lastname@example.org.
