22Bet does a nice job of providing a host of NBA betting opportunities before, during, and after the seasons. Typical moneyline, spread, total, parlay, prop, and live betting opportunities are plentiful on the 22Bet site, as is an appropriate focus on the sport’s most iconic teams – the Lakers, Celtics, Heat, Bucks, and of course… the Raptors.

College Football

College football in the Canadian market has yet to catch up with the activity South of the Border. Still, 22Bet offers a full menu of college football betting options, including moneyline, spread, and total plays for most Division I games on any given Saturday during the season, along with various futures markets for the National Championship, conferences, and divisions. 

College Basketball

Canadians are predictably fond of the March Madness tournament and bet on NCAA Men’s and Women’s hoops in droves. 22Bet offers traditional markets throughout the regular season and conference tournaments.

Other Sports Leagues

“Other” sports are where 22Bet stands out and should be a staple sportsbook for ESPN8 "The Ocho" sports fans. Their list of sports obscure to the average North American bettor is long and strong. Volleyball, table tennis, and cricket are pretty widely-found secondary sports, but again, 22Bet tops most betting sites with quantity, as you'll find over 500 markets for table tennis alone.

If you're looking to get real funky with your leagues, the A-Z list at 22Bet includes intriguing randoms like bare-knuckle boxing, Basque pelota, hurling, and Kun Khmer (Cambodian combat sport).

While there has been a focus on the number of sports betting options, we were happy to see that sports that appeal to Canadian bettors get a fair amount of attention on the site itself. In this case, quality for Canadian bettors meets quantity.

Online Betting Experience

Access to 22Bet is not difficult. You can find the betting site on your favorite internet browser. Signing up was typically simple, banking was straightforward, and the menu of sports to bet on was as impressive as any we have seen in the Canadian market.

During our research, we were alerted to the clutter and busyness of the 22Bet online betting experience and arrived to find that those concerns were completely justified. A lot is going on with the 22Bet site, making it difficult for novice and experienced gamblers alike to navigate.

Website Experience

In this day and age of intense competition within the Canadian legal sports betting industry, it is incumbent upon companies to make the wagering experience as quick, painless, and fun as possible. We have mentioned the lengths 22Bet has gone through in populating a massive menu of sports, but it has come at the cost of delivering a clean, clutter-free interface for its betting public.

The busyness of the site was a turnoff for us. The company has to hope that bettors will wade through the unnecessary muck to get into the “meat” of the wagering platform. There is an essential search function to help. Kudos for that.

If you can get by the cluttered nature of the 22Bet wagering platform, our tests found the overall experience to be relatively smooth and pleasurable. The software was responsive and intuitive, directions were straightforward, and navigation was a relative breeze.

Overall, the website experience was below average. Outside of the clutter you are greeted and bombarded with on the site, it's just plain ugly to look at. It looks like someone built an entire website with post-it notes.

Mobile Betting and Betting App

For what it’s worth, the App Store gave 22Bet a 4.2/5 rating – something we found to be generous at best. There is also an Android and iOS app download option on the 22Bet site, making it a pleasant experience for those bettors using their mobile devices.

22Bet having a dedicated iOS and Android app certainly lends a certain amount of credibility to the betting brand, especially in the Canadian market where having an app at all isn't a given. But, with the utter chaos you find on this site, even an app won't save you.

Live Betting

Live betting has become a focus of global sports betting providers, and 22Bet is no different. Our review was pleased with the overall live betting options available on the site. Again, there is a lot of clutter on the 22Bet main page, but once you are at the live betting section, things are smoother from that point on.

Most popular sports are available for live betting – the site boasts more than 30,000 live betting events per month, spanning an estimated 100 markets. There is no doubting the robust nature of this betting site, and the live betting menu is certainly not limited.

Live streaming of sporting events would certainly help 22Bets enhance their live betting – we hope it is on the horizon.

Casino, Poker, & Other Gaming Options

Like most online sportsbooks, 22Bet brings along an accompanying online casino. Our review found it to be a good compliment to their sportsbook offerings. The site boasts over 3,000 game titles for bettors to choose from and has aligned with some of the top mobile casino software providers worldwide to make up that menu of games.

Included on that list are recognizable elite software developer names like NetEnt, Evolution Gaming, Micro Gaming, Evolution Gaming, EGT, ELK, and many more.

Slots make up most gaming titles, including a healthy list of progressive jackpots. There is also an impressive list of variations on other casino favorites such as Blackjack, Roulette, Baccarat, and online poker. Live casino options are also available with 22Bet.

The issue was the site’s lack of separation between slots and table games. All titles - slots, Blackjack, and the rest are mixed in with no separate section for each gaming option. We have already discussed the erratic overall product – mixing all online casino titles is another unforced error by the provider and something that should be cleaned up.

Customer Ratings & Reputation

22Bet came out of the gate strong in 2017 but was criticized for having an overly complicated platform. The company did reportedly make some changes between now and then. Whether or not they fully addressed the issue is an open question. 

The overall reputation of 22Bet is a bit murky. Several players have come to SBR to help resolve disputes with the betting site. Most issues revolve around voiding bets and accusing players of taking advantage of their robust obscure sports offering. What good is a massive sports menu if you're not letting people bet on them?

22Bet has cleared licensing and regulatory hurdles with the Curacao Gaming Authority and the Kahnawake Gaming Commission, but eCOGRA certification is not mentioned. eCOGRA is the top global gaming and testing authority and a badge of honor for companies that are green-lighted by the firm. If 22Bet has it, they should display it proudly like other competing sites in the Canadian market.

Customer Service

Customer Service has become a vital feature of an online gambling operation. 22Bet online reviews such as this can make or break a site simply by breaking down the seriousness with which they treat customer queries and concerns.

22Bet has an adequate menu of customer service options. For Canadian bettors, support is available in 20 languages, including English and French.

22Bet boasts an extensive FAQ section that will answer/address the most basic customer concerns and questions. If you need to further your inquiries, there are two ways to get in touch with an actual customer service agent. Notably absent from the list is a telephone option that we hope will be added sometime in the future.

Our dealings with customer service have found them to be rather unhelpful. They will typically quote vague terms written to basically tell you that they can do whatever they want and brush off players with legitimate disputes without proper explanations. We have found 22Bet to be one of the worst in Canada in how they treat players, especially profitable ones, and they will void bets at will.

22Bet has actively participated in the global sports betting scene for five years. Honestly, we were expecting a bit more out of the company. First impressions are everything, and a busy, overwhelming interface greeted our 22Bet review. 

The website itself looks extremely outdated. The quality of odds are average at best. 22Bet's saving grace would be their massive menu of markets, but the fact that they punish you for taking full advantage of the breadth of their offering makes that point useless.

On top of that, this betting site's poor treatment of customers and voiding bets at will is just the final straw. You have much better options in the Canadian market. If 22Bet creates a more engaging and fluid site and improves player relations, you could have a top-notch bookmaker here. But right now, they don't make the cut.
