Colorado Avalanche star Nathan MacKinnon closed as the consensus favorite by the 2024 Hart Trophy odds to end the regular season based on the best NHL odds from our best NHL betting sites.

Connor McDavid and Nikita Kucherov join Nathan MacKinnon as the three finalists for the Hart Trophy. The winner will be announced at the June 27 NHL Awards ceremony.

Nathan MacKinnon's Hart Trophy odds lengthened across most of our best sports betting sites in the final weeks before the odds were pulled. He was trading as short as -400 at Caesars as the season ended.

While our best sports betting sites identified him as the favorite, his lead atop the oddsboard shrunk due to Tampa Bay Lightning right winger Kucherov's clutch play down the stretch. Kucherov's odds improved substantially at most sportsbooks, closing the season in the +350 range.

Edmonton Oilers superstar McDavid fell off the pace despite his incredible season, with his MVP odds trading between +650 and +900.

Here's our look at how the Hart Trophy odds closed at the end of the season.

Hart Trophy favorites

Nathan MacKinnon (-275 via DraftKings)

MacKinnon's implied probability, via our odds converter, dropped to 73.34% after increasing to 76.19%. While his status as the favorite weakened toward the end of the year, he still finished as the undeniable front-runner.

The seven-time All-Star concluded the year with 140 points, second behind Kucherov for the league lead.

MacKinnon's home-point streak ended at 35 games on March 28 against the New York Rangers. His plus-35 is tied with McDavid for the best mark among MVP contenders, and it's the sixth-best overall in the league.

Nikita Kucherov (+400 via BetMGM)

The diminutive rockstar finished the season with a league-high 144 points.

Kucherov ended up with 54 more points than Brayden Point, who finished with the Lightning's second-highest point total (90). That discrepancy from first to second is larger than any other favorite by a wide margin.

The 30-year-old joined McDavid in the 100-assist club, only the fifth player to do so.

Connor McDavid (+900 via FanDuel)

Despite his best effort, McDavid will stride into the award ceremony as a somewhat distant underdog. McDavid won't mind so much if he wins his first Stanley Cup ring beforehand.

The megastar recorded 122 points in 65 games after former head coach Jay Woodcroft was fired on Nov. 12. He finished the season with an even 100 assists, just the fourth player to hit the mark in NHL history.

The three-time MVP winner posted the most assists and primary assists while notching an otherworldly 83 points in 37 home contests. He also produced 102 points in the 48 Oilers wins in which he played, reinforcing his unparalleled importance to the team.

However, he only tallied 32 goals, tied for 34th overall. He also produced the second-worst shooting percentage of his career (12.2%).

Hart Trophy odds over time

MacKinnon's odds lengthened across DraftKings, FanDuel, and Caesars as the season wound down.

Kucherov experienced the largest improvement over the season's final weeks, with his odds shortening at DraftKings from +600 to +350, from +500 to +370 at FanDuel, from +600 to +360 at Caesars, from +500 to +400 at BetMGM.
