After securing MVP honors in 2023, Ronald Acuna Jr. and Shohei Ohtani are again among the favorites, but now they both play in the National League, and we're diving into the best odds for the 2024 MLB MVP Awards based on the best MLB odds.

Following his second-place finish in the 2023 NL MVP voting, Mookie Betts is out for revenge to start this season. He leads the NL in fWAR and owns the shortest odds among any player on our oddsboards.

However, his new teammate, Shohei Ohtani, is looking to become the back-to-back MVP as he pushes Betts in the oddsboard.

The biggest news on the NL side of the MLB MVP market was Ronald Acuna's recent season-ending knee injury. The reigning NL MVP was already off to a cold start, but this confirms he won't go back-to-back after his incredible 40-70 season last year.

Meanwhile, New York Yankees blockbuster offseason addition Juan Soto has been surpassed by a familiar face, as his homer-hitting machine of a teammate is the new favorite in the AL.

Could Soto and Ohtani take him the hardware in their first season with the Yankees and Dodgers, respectively?

Here's our look at the best MLB MVP odds from our best MLB betting sites.

AL MVP odds analysis

June 4, 2024: All rise, here comes the Judge.

Yankees slugger Aaron Judge is the new favorite in the American League, passing teammate Juan Soto on the oddsboard. Those two are joined by a pair of young infielders, Bobby Witt Jr. and Gunnar Henderson.

Witt looks particularly interesting, as he features a combination of elite shortstop defense and lethal base-stealing. However, Judge can hit homers in bunches, and we've seen him power his way to an MVP Award before.

Both Witt and Henderson offer stolen base upside that Soto likely doesn't, which could help their chances to overtake him as the season progresses.

Charging just behind those four is Houston Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker, who ranks fifth in fWAR and is second in the majors with 19 home runs.

NL MVP odds analysis

June 4, 2024: As mentioned, the unfortunate news surrounding this market is Acuna's season-ending injury. This is the outfielder's second serious knee injury since 2021, and when he returned in 2022, he had a relatively down year after a late start. That's something to look out for next season.

Meanwhile, Mookie Betts is shorter than +200 at all of our best sports betting apps, and it's only the beginning of June. However, Shohei Ohtani is hot on his heels, and he's moved from around +900 to as short as +325.

Two of the biggest movers at our best sportsbooks are Cincinnati Reds infielder Elly De La Cruz and Milwaukee Brewers catcher William Contreras, though the former's odds have lengthened back to +6500.

MLB MVP odds explained

One of the benefits of betting on the MLB MVP - as is the case with most player award futures markets - is that the odds on every option are relatively long to start the season. Therefore, by betting on MLB MVP, you can make your money go further by placing a smaller wager and winning more than you would with most daily markets.

The odds will shift throughout the season as players separate themselves with their performances. It's just as important to track the progression of the league's biggest players as it is to the odds themselves.
