Matchbook is one of the industry's leading betting exchange. Matchbook has been in operation since 2004. The company was acquired in February of 2011 by UK investors. Upon the acquisition, Matchbook immediately withdrew from the US market, citing the necessity to remove the brand from jurisdictions where Matchbook operations could be seen as non-compliant. Matchbook's new ownership paid all US players their balances and began focusing its resources on expanding their international slate and better serving punters abroad.

Matchbook offers multiple currencies to their customers, and has a multi-lingual platform in the works. Matchbook has continually enhanced the popular user interface that allows for seamless market offers. Matchbook operates on a commission based method where users are charged a small percentage of each bet played. If a customer posts an offer and another user matches it, 0.5% commission is charged, calculated on volume. If an offer is accepted, the user accepting is charged 1.0% commission, calculated on volume. The commission rates are applied to the win amount on successful wagers. For losing bets, it is applied to the lesser of the stake or potential win amount. The low commission rate essentially makes Matchbook a "reduced juice" sportsbook as it's referred to within the industry, with the exception of the fact that the betting exchange is solely peer-to-peer trading.
