UFC 188 took place Saturday night from Mexico City and it was an evening of some surprises.
Online sportsbooks cleaned up on the main event as Cain Velasquez went down in flames as a heavy -425 betting favorite.
Sports bettors who wagered on the following UFC 188 Prop Betting markets made out like thieves.
Cain Velasquez vs. Fabricio Werdum
Fabricio Werdum to win inside the distance paid out +540.
Fabricio Werdum to win by submission paid out +1000.
All UFC prop bets on Cain Velasquez were obviously losers; though the biggest sting of all was on the moneyline market as the popular heavyweight was a large -425 favorite to win.
Eddie Alvarez vs. Gilbert Melendez
Eddie Alvarez won a split decision against Gilbert Melendez and cashed as a -170 favorite.
Alvarez by decision paid out at +300.
Over 2.5 rounds was also an easy winner; the best betting line was -230.
Kevin Gastelum vs. Nate Marquardt
Kevin Gastelum cashed at +228 to win by KO, TKO, or DQ with his TKO victory.
Gastelum to win inside the distance paid +109.
Gastelum was an average -500 favorite in the bout.
Charles Rosa vs. Yair Rodriguez
Yair Rodriguez was +333 to win by decision and he did just that, so a $100 wager on this outcome paid $333.
Rodriguez also cashed on the +3.5 points handicap which was spread at +3.5 by -125 by one sports betting website.
Rodriguez was a +155 underdog in the bout at closing.
Tecia Torres vs. Angela Hill
In the only women's bout on the card, Tecia Torres won by unanimous decision as a -235 betting favorite.
Torres cashed at +103 to win by decision.
The over rounds line was set at over 2.5 -200 which also was a winner.
Early Betting Odds for UFC 189
Jose Aldo opened at a -140 betting favorite in his showdown with Conor McGregor. The line has since dropped by an average of 30 cents, suggesting sportsbooks adjusted due to the amount of volume received on McGregor. With the card approximately one month away, there is sure to be more line movement as the weeks progress.
Rory MacDonald opened as a -190 favorite against Robbie Lawler.
