The New England Patriots failed to cover the point spread (7.5 to 9.5 based on market timing) in their 34-27 victory against the Indianapolis Colts last night.
According to SBR Betting Odds numbers, 61.5% of bettors were on the Patriots point spread.
Players who wagered the over cashed regardless if their bet was placed at the opener of 55 or the closing line of 53.5. 63% of bettors were on the over.
Teaser bettors cashed on both sides of the game whether betting the Patriots or Colts against the spread.
Players who teased the total won on both the over and under if their number was 54.5 or better. Players who had 55 would have pushed if they bet a six point teaser as the final total landed on 61.
Sportsbook Review reached out to the respective lines management departments of some of the top online sportsbooks to receive their insight on how the Patriots vs. Colts turned out.
Online sportsbook Heritage: "Lots of action and interest in the deflate-gate redemption game. The Colts cover helped, but the game total over seemed like a gimme as players hammered it. Lots of second half action on the Pats added to the sting of the final game of the night. The players should be happy this Monday morning!"
5Dimes Sportsbook: "That last touchdown was wonderful."
Online sportsbook BetDSI: Sharps did very well as the public kept the number inflated with their complete one-sided action on the patriots back door cover was huge as sharps crushed colts from +10.5 -120, +10 -120... All the way down to +9 ... . All sharp action on the home dog no notable total action aside from public winning on the over but nothing bank-breaking at all, despite the line dropping we still needed the colts to cover so we fared well. Popular public teaser of pats-over cashed but again, Colts cover out-weighed that with public cashing on the over, and Pats-over teaser, and books doing well with the Colts cover it was much a break even, collect the juice kind of game most 'public' teasers that *would have* been carrying over the pats were brought down but the seahawks and cardinals getting busted, although Packers-to-Pats was popular combination."
Online sportsbook GTBets: "Bets were 7-1 on New England, and the money was 10-1, so the house desperately need Indy to have the performance that they did. Unfortunately the total was almost as heavily bet on as the side was, so the over ended up being a terrible outcome for the house. With the teasers hitting as well, the game ended up being a marginal loss for the house. Everyone has plenty of money to bet on tonight’s game, and so far the action is coming in at 3-2 on NYG +4.5, so it would seem that the house is going to need the favorite Philadelphia Eagles -4.5. Bets are currently at 5-1 on the over as well."
