Sportsbooks lose after Holm upsets Rousey at UFC 193
Las Vegas sportsbooks got 'crushed' by Ronda Rousey's upset loss vs. Holly Holm at UFC 193 in Australia, according to Westgate sportsbook director Jay Kornegay.
Rousey opened as a -1300 betting favorite but late wagering action saw Rousey drop between at -850 to -950 at most online sportsbooks.
Sportsbook Review asked the manager of popular betting site Heritage Sports (SBR rating A+) how the house made out.
SBR: It looks like Holly Holm closed at +565 at Heritage, and had been as high as +1000 earlier in the morning. How did Heritage Sports make out -- was it a big loss overall despite being a “shocking upset” as the media are calling it?
Heritage Sports: Sports bettors saw value in the underdog [Holm]. They probably wish they bet bigger as there was lots of smaller volume bets on Holm as the price was too much to pass up. It represented a losing night in UFC, but could have been a lot worse if some bettors were more committed to the eventual outcome.
UFC 193 Winning Prop Bets
Sports bettors who wagered on Holly Holm to win inside the distance cashed tickets paying +1275 odds, meaning a $100 wager returned $1,275 in profit.
Bets on Holly Holm to win by KO, TKO, or DQ paid out at +1360, or $1,360 for every $100 risked.
The fight ending by KO, TKO, or DQ by either fighter paid out at +215.
Sportsbook Review will be releasing a UFC 194 prop bets page for Jose Aldo vs. Conor McGregor and will update the newswire once UFC odds are posted.
