PaddyPower Loses £3.5 Million on US Election: SBR News
Sportsbook Review's Natalie Rydstrom reports on Irish bookmaker PaddyPower losing approximately £3.5 million on the US election. SBR initially reported on October 18 that the sportsbook sensationally graded all wagers on Hillary Clinton for POTUS as winners, leading many to wonder what would happen in the event that Donald J Trump was victorious. PaddyPower has had to settle both sides of the market as winners.
Online sportsbook BetOnline also reported that players who wagered early scored as big of a payday as +6600 for wagering on Trump to win the election after he announced his bid for the White House.
Trump closed as a +450 underdog at most online sportsbooks. View archived Presidential winner betting odds.
Gamblers who wagered during in-play not only scored sizable paydays wagering on Trump, but protected their wagers on Hillary Clinton by being in a position where they would either break even or win. Trump was set at -110 early on into the evening, and shot all the way up to -8,000 over the next few hours after it was announced that he won the states of Florida, Ohio, and finally Pennsylvania. A 380 plus page discussion at SBR Forum is still going strong on Trump's victory.
