NFL Week 14: Favorites & Underdogs Battle to a Draw
It was a mixed day for favorites and underdogs in week 14 NFL with favorites going 7 of 14.
While some reliable public sides cashed with relative ease, five of seven underdogs also won outright.
The betting data cited below is powered by the NFL betting odds grid at Sportsbook Review.
58% of players were on the Steelers and company to cover the spread on the road against the Buffalo Bills. The closing line was -1, down two points from the opener, as many SBR Forum bettors expressed skepticism that the Steelers would walk through the Bills on the road, but the Steelers won without too much trouble 27-20 for a comfortable cover.
The Redskins were -2 point favorites on the road against the Philadelphia Eagles and although they trailed 13-7 in the first half, the Redskins, led by Kirk Cousins, pulled away in the second half with a 27-22 road win.
The Green Bay Packers were underdogs at home against the Seattle Seahawks and when the line closed had received just 45% wagering support. The Packers led throughout and blew out the Seahawks 38-10, picking Russel Wilson off five times en route to a victory that is likely to bring their Super Bowl winning odds back down to reality. The Packers shot up to over 35-1 when it looked like the book was closed on their 2016 campaign.
The Cowboys have looked unstoppable for much of the 2016 season but the NY Giants had their number for the second time this season and pulled out an ugly 10-7 victory at home, covering their +3.5 spread. 52% of players were on the Cowboys according to the closing wagering percentage.
