Mobibet Sportsbook rebrands as MB24
Mobibet Sportsbook (SBR rating D-) has rebranded as MB24. Sportsbook Review has reported on 30 player complaints launched against Mobibet following their inclusion in the sportsbook ratings guide on March 24 of this year. Most of the complaints filed by players involved the confiscation of sportsbook winnings from players who were pegged as bonus abusers.
Sportsbook Review spoke extensively with Mobibet management concerning the cases. The sportsbook claimed that it was advised by software host EveryMatrix LLC — also known by name OddsMatrix — that it is common for betting sites to forfeit account balances after it is determined that players are bonus hunters. In another words, players who are not interested in long-term play and only deposit to take advantage of a sign-up or other bonus, then withdraw.
How these "bonus abusers" were identified
MB24 provided specific examples of players that make a deposit, then risk 100% of their deposit on the first wager. If the wager loses, the client does not redeposit. If the wager wins, the client then proceeds to complete rollover by making numerous small, fixed wagers on straight bet markets without giving the house a reasonable chance to win the funds back.
In a majority of the complaints reported to SBR, players were not accused of being linked with other players by IP address or any other means, the players simply were flagged as bonus chasers, had their deposits returned, and accounts closed.
How the cases should have been handled
A sportsbook is entirely free to turn down business from players it does not expect will be profitable customers long-term. However, the old industry standard of "you book the bet, you pay the bet" applies. An online sportsbook cannot simply choose not to pay winnings because player action is deemed undesirable, only in cases of clear fraud are player winnings seized. For example, if a player deposits with funds that haven't cleared from a bank account, or uses a stolen credit card to run up a winning balance. Or, a player is proven to open several accounts from the same household to receive many sign-up bonuses (in this case, only the first account should be paid all winnings).
Mobibet/MB24 players with complaints or feedback should write to SBR.
