BetWay Sportsbook investigating soccer grading dispute
Update 11/12 3:30PM ET: BetWay has indicated that the dispute is being mediated by IBAS and will abide by its final decision. The online sportsbook shared the evidence it had collected concerning the wagers in question.
Online sportsbook BetWay (SBR rating B-) is investigating the soccer grading dispute reported by SBR earlier in the week.
A player claimed that after funding his BetWay sports account with $5,000 and wagering a few Turkish under 21 soccer matches, his wagers were not settled as normal due to an alleged ESSA investigation.
The ESSA or European Sports Security Association is tasked with investigating suspicious betting patterns at regulated online sportsbooks and doing their part to stop insider betting / match fixing.
The player claimed — and subsequently forwarded correspondence -— that a top online sportsbook also did not immediately grade the bets, but approximately one month later paid his winnings as normal.
He claims that BetWay Sportsbook has yet to grade the market at all, and has not provided an update on when or if he can expect his winnings to be credited.
BetWay has acknowledged the issue and is reviewing the matter and said that an update will be provided to SBR soon.
