Betsafe player fails phone verification check and loses account
A sportsbook complaint has been submitted by a Betsafe player. Betsafe is a C- rated betting site.
The player has claimed that the sports betting site confiscated his available balance and closed his account.
Betsafe's reason is that during a random phone call to the phone number on file, the alleged account owner stated that he had no Betsafe account.
The player has clarified that he was confused during the call because he could not understand the thick accent of the Betsafe representative.
Betsafe believes that someone else was controlling the account and that the name registered to the account is what's referred to in the betting industry as a 'gnome'.
The player has indicated that he intends to get the UK Gambling Commission involved if the complaint goes unresolved.
It is not unreasonable for online sportsbooks to conclude that players are not who they say they are if a simple phone call verification is failed.
Sportsbook Review has asked Betsafe if they can replay the recording of the phone call to confirm that the player understood the context of the call.
