BetMayor Sportsbook claims acquisition fell through

SBR has received the following email from

BetMayor Sportsbook: "Through the present mail be advise (sic) Bet Mayor is bankrupt, the merge with GlobalBet didnt took place and the company that was going to buy out the debt with all the database backed from the deal (Media Tech). If any company is interested in buying off the debt with the players please contact Bet Mayor through this email as all other emails are closed."

The email went on to accuse two former employees of stealing funds from the company.

Despite the above, the big BetMayor Sportsbook (SBR rating F) casino winner who won $51,000 playing blackjack still hopes he will be paid and is requesting updates on the situation daily.

A former account manager (one of the employees accused by BetMayor of mishandling funds) is singing a different tune: The manager claimed that the sports betting site changed names to avoid paying out on the complaint and to a handful of other players who were owed.

Looking beyond the he said/she said, one thing is clear for players --- no-name online sportsbooks that peddle bonuses and make excuses not to pay big winners should be avoided at all costs, especially this time of year.

SBR understands that there are sportsbook bonus hunters willing to take a risk to get in and out of a new book quickly to take advantage of a premium offer while the site is still paying players, but there simply is no way to determine when an unheard of sportsbook is going to decide to stop paying.

By sticking with reputable online sportsbooks such as those that are listed on the best sportsbooks list, players are dealing with companies that have been in business for many years and who have never not paid a winner.
