Things are heating up in Spain’s La Liga, but when Atlético Madrid take on Malaga there can only be one outcome…CASH for your Humble Handicapper. Whether you follow Spanish football or not, provided you follow these top soccer tips, you too can share the spoils.

Atletico Madrid's bid to win La Liga for the first time since 1996 took a serious blow on Sunday when Levante beat them 2-0. Madrid were behind after just seven minutes, and the defeat was sealed when David Barral added a second on 69 minutes. As it stands, Atlético need four points from their last two games to win the title.

It’s the penultimate game of the season for Atlético Madrid and when you consider that there last game (on 18th May) is away to Barcelona, the Malaga match is their best chance of taking three points. The Catalans can pip Atletico on their head-to-head record if they beat Madrid on the last day of the season, so I expect Malaga to feel the full force of Madrid’s strikers. At time of press, if you want to bet on the winner of Spain’s top flight you can pick up best soccer odds of 10/11 on Atletico winning it, while Real Madrid are second favourites on 23/10 and Barcelona are third best at 7/2.  If you’re more of a cautious bettor or one of those people with so much money that they can turn a decent profit from such odds, you can pick up Atletico at 1/100 to finish in the top two and 1/50 on Real Madrid doing the same.

Enough with the non-profit bearing odds…WHERE’S THE MONEY MIKE?
The basics have Atlético wining at 1/5, a draw at 5/1 and a Malaga win as high as 17/1. There are always twists and turns on the final stages of a season (just look at Crystal palace) but this game won’t see the unexpected materialise. If you do think the utterly unlikely will happen, why not go all out on Atlético leading at the break and Malaga taking the game on the 90 as those odds fly as high as 150/1.

This is where you should be betting your hard earned cash.
Looking at the last five recent games for Malaga, you will see that when they win (twice in the last five) it is at home (1-0 against Villarreal and 4-1 against Granada) and when they lose they tend to lose without scoring (1-0 against Elche, 2-0 against Getafe and 3-0 against Bilbao). If we take it as red that they will lose to Madrid (which they will) you might as well put a side soccer pick on Madrid winning to nil at best soccer odds of 5/6.

The bookies seem to agree as they have Madrid winning 2-0 at the shortest correct score odds at 11/2, but your Humble Handicapper thinks we will see more goals than that. So also bet on Over 2.5 goals at 4/7.
