Scam sportsbook Parlaymakers still off-lineParlaymakers (SBR rating F) is the latest sportsbook to collapse without paying their players. The
scam sportsbook was downgraded to F by SBR on February 28th after going off-line.
Parlaymakers did not provide notice to players that the domain would be taken down, and ceased replying to both players and SBR shortly after the loss of their biggest processor,
Gold-Pay.
The niche sportsbook had an unusual business model that allowed players to place
teasers and parlays at prices offered by
Matchbook (SBR rating B-). On February 20th, SBR
published a report advising players to request their funds after communication brokedown from the sportsbook. Parlaymakers "Max" relied on word of mouth to bring in business for the small sportsbook, initially paying players and spamming forums to promote the brand. All future ventures started by Parlaymakers Max and associates will be added to SBR's
scam sportsbook blacklist.
Parlaymakers players are asked to submit their details via
sportsbook complaint form to SBR. While players are unlikely to be paid in the short-term, SBR has assisted some players in receiving payment from scam sportsbooks that experienced success after rebranding, one such case occurred when
Bet33 (SBR rating D-) paid a player who had been stiffed $5,000 following
Apex Sportsbook's (SBR rating F) collapse five years prior. |

Parlaymakers wager dispute updateOn November 18th, SBR
reported that
Parlaymakers (SBR rating C) canceled $4,000 worth of a player's
teasers. The player had originally bet $1,000 on five
teasers, all including the Baltimore Ravens leg of -1.5. Parlaymakers cited a rule disallowing more than $1,000 on any teaser team.
Parlaymakers claimed that the player was aware of the restriction, but could not prove this. Since the wagers were canceled prior to any of the games beginning, the player rebet the
teasers elsewhere. Parlaymakers has agreed to credit the player a $1,600 freeplay, which is equivalent to the amount of equity the
teasers held.

Parlaymakers cancels $4,000 worth of player's teasersA
Parlaymakers (unrated) dispute has been reported. On November 11th, a player
made five bets of $1000 on a 2-team 6-point teaser, taking Baltimore +7.5 and
Indianapolis -1. Approximately ten minutes before the Baltimore game began on Thursday,
Parlaymakers voided 4 of the wagers stating that its limits were $1000 per identical teaser.
Parlaymakers has been unable to show a printed rule with this limit, the player has also denied seeing any warning of this kind. Parlaymakers stated that the
teaser wagering page had the following warning when the player placed duplicate
wagers:
"Multiple Teaser wagers on the same teams with
the same lines that exceed the wager limit for teasers will not be
allowed." SBR is discussing this dispute with Parlaymakers.

InstantActionSports (SBR rating C) gives winning player an ultimatumInstantActionSports (SBR rating C) gives a winning player who had successfully rollved over a 20% cash bonus an ultimatum. The player deposited $2,000 via bank wire three months ago and accepted the 20% cash bonus. The player had his wire fees covered for the deposit. The player ran the balance up to $7,143 by placing over $13,000 in action. The player bet mostly straight bets and
teasers.
InstantActionSports concedes that the rollover was met but informed the player that he is deemed a non-recreational player and should the player wish to withdraw his balance in full that his bonus, reimbursed fees, and a proportional amount of winnings (<$1400) will be confiscated. The player was then given an ultimatum to leave his initial deposit+bonus+fees in the account to continue wagering.
This is not the first time
InstantActionSports has been involved in a dispute like this. Back in June of 2008 InstantActionSports confiscated multiple player bonuses as well as a portion of their winnings. They later agreed to pay in full after SBR inquired on the players' behalf. | View

RebateWager updates its website with clearer open teaser and parlay rules
RebateWager (SBR rating B-) has updated its rules page with clearer terms on open parlays and
teasers, following the October 28th dispute which culminated in
RebateWager paying a player for the first three legs of a four-leg teaser that was placed outside of the allowed time-frame.
RebateWager rule:
"Open parlays and teasers must be closed in the same calendar week that
they are opened. Failure to do so will result in the wager being scored
as a loss. You cannot bet opposite sides of the same game in an open
parlay if you have a pending parlay involving that game."

teasers is that all teaser legs must be filled within one week. However, RebateWager has stated its standard procedure is to honor all accepted wagers and legs of open
teasers.
RebateWager paid the first three legs of the teaser which were placed in the allowed time-frame. The book cites multiple warnings to this player as for honoring only the teaser legs within the 1 week stated period. |

It was an interesting week for the house, as they did well on some games, got killed on others, and narrowly avoided getting killed on teasers. I spoke with the head linesman at BookMaker, who got into some specifics with me.
The worst game on the card for the house was in the NFL, Atlanta/SF. Big sharp action and the public were all on Atlanta, as was yours truly as well. And as many people have already guessed, the 10-point win by Florida in Florida/LSU was a colossal disaster for the books, with the big back-and-forth live movements leaving the house wide open for a middle, which was exactly what wound up happening.

Sportsbooks list payout odds for 2008 Basketball teasers. 5Dimes (SBR rating A) tops the teaser chart for both basketball and
football.
Pinnacle (SBR rating A+) remains the only sportsbook allowing players to have more than 5.5 points and take as many as 7.5. Players can check back as the basketball season
nears for added information including teaser maximum and minimum risk amounts and changes to payout
odds. Multiple sportsbooks are considering broadening the range of points offered before the start of the NBA season. |

BetJoint (SBR rating C-) applies bonus rule to parlay winnings; costs player $3,051The player made two winning 3-team parlays wagering $250 and $150 in free-play bonus money to win a total of $5,359. The last leg of both parlays were on the San Diego Padres +1.5 run line. The player also made a regular moneyline bet on the Padres as well as a wager on the opposing team using his deposited funds. The next day the user account was debited $3,051 and his parlays were recalculated as 2-teamers with the third leg removed. BetJoint cited the
rule below:
You are allowed to bet both sides of the same game, PROVIDING THAT IT IS ALWAYS WITH YOUR OWN CASH AND NEVER INCLUDES THE USE OF ANY ‘FREE PLAY’ CREDIT. This rule applies to all straight-action wagers and also any plays that are used in parlays or teasers. For example, if you make a FREE PLAY wager on Team “A” or use Team “A” in a parlay or teaser wager using FREE PLAY credits, you are not allowed to bet Team “B” from that same game or event with either FREE PLAY credits or CASH play. Likewise, if you make a CASH wager on Team “A” or use Team “A” in a parlay or teaser wager, you are not allowed to bet Team “B” from that same game or event with FREE PLAY credits. However, you can make CASH plays on both sides of the same game in all instances, whether it is straight action, parlays or teasers. Violations of this rule will result in both/all bets on that event or game being cancelled and those bets will be considered null and void. In such instances, the cash play money will be refunded to customer's account and the customer will automatically forfeit all remaining Free Play credits in his/her account as penalty for rule violation.
The player argues that his cash bets oppose each other and were not made in an attempt to hedge out of the parlay. He also argues that BetJoint is using a single cash bet to void two separate larger parlay wagers. The rule is considered fine print due to the fact that the software does not prohibit these actions. This is the second case of this rule biting into an account balance this year.
In February a player was in a similar situation. His free-play parlay lost and the cash bet won. BetJoint handled it differently, canceling the player’s winning cash wager that was opposing the last leg of a losing parlay. BetJoint assured SBR that had the parlay won it would have been honored and the losing cash bet would have been no-actioned. BetJoint stated it aimed to prohibit the player from making a cash bet on the opposing team and it expects its software to prohibit the free-play buy-back bet in the near future. In this most recent report, the player’s $575 cash bet was honored while the parlay legs were not. Despite inconsistent handling with the two accounts, BetJoint’s management states that the rule gives the book the ability to cancel any and all bets referenced in the rule. Players should be aware of the odd rule and the liberties it gives the sportsbook. Under this catch-all stipulation a sportsbook has the ability to cancel winning cash wagers or void a $7,000 8-team parlay if the bettor was to make a $20 cash bet that was opposite one of the picks in his parlay. |

Oddsmaker (SBR rating D-) player places $50 losing parlay; book takes $1,018.75
The player used a $100 promotional offer to build his account to $1,018.75. He then learned he overlooked a rule stating that parlays are not allowed. He also learned that the consequence of breaking this rule, which is not listed, is voiding all bets. Many players who bring the account over $1000 find that Oddsmaker finds a reason to void their winnings. Oddsmaker told SBR last month that they planned to update their terms of service but has yet to do so.
Player: About three months ago OddsMaker direct mailed me with an offer to open an account and get a $100 Free Bonus upon registration. I opened an account and turned the $100 bonus into $1,018.75. I then contacted OddsMaker's "LIVE Chat" to learn when I was able to withdraw money from the account. Service advisor "Pamela" told me that I had to hit $1,500 through straight bets only, e.g. no parlays or teasers, before I could make a withdrawal. I told "Pamela" that I only played straight bets with one exception being a sole $50 parlay that was a losing ticket. Upon learning about the one parlay, "Pamela" chose to reset my account, e.g. nullified all my winnings, citing that I violated the bonus disclaimer. I am totally stunned to say the least about the resetting of the account as I was not aware of the straight bets only rule. Surely, this can't be right. I placed only one parlay and it is just totally unfair and unacceptable to me that this leads to a nullification of all bets placed. Indeed, the parlay was a loser and was played after the $100 Free Bonus had been turned over a number of times on straight wagers. I worked very hard turning the $100 into more than $1,000 just for OddsMaker to undo this by a very harsh, unfair and unreasonable rule interpretation. The terms of conditions related to this particular bonus (copied in below) does indeed NOT state that any rule violation - no matter how petty - leads to total nullification of all wagers placed. I can understand if I lose my $100 Free Bonus, but to have all winnings taken away because of a $50 parlay loser makes absolutely no sense to me and I think that OddsMaker is totally out of line by doing so.

BetEd (SBR rating B-) changes teaser rules after SBR reader complaint
BetEd previously graded
teasers involving three or more plays as a push if any of the teaser legs pushed (tied with the spread resulting in no action) with the other legs winning. If the teaser contained a push and a losing play, the bet would lose. BetEd revised its rules so that all
teasers made up of three or more legs that contained a push would be recalculated as a teaser with one less leg. This conforms to the online industry and Las Vegas standard. BetEd also credited the player for a winning teaser despite the bet coming in under the old rule and containing a push.
