Two On-LineSportsbook (sbr rating D-) players file new payout complaints
The sportsbook told users that it is waiting for access to player-deposited funds collected by credit card processors. Blaming third parties for not having access to funds is a common excuse and one used by stiff sportsbooks LazerWager (sbr rating F) and BetCascade (sbr rating F). However, GoTo Entertainment sportsbooks commonly puts large winners on payment plans. Players are hopeful the book will get through these latest issues and begin to make payments. The two players have requested over $3,000 and have balances of over $15,000 combined.

BetTrojan (sbr rating C) confiscates winnings, citing betting soft lines; later agrees to pay
BetTrojan emailed the player stating he was warned last Saturday, via an account log-in message, that if he bet on lines that were changing throughout the betting market but have yet to change at Trojan, (soft lines, also subjectively referred to as playing steam) his winnings would be void. The sportsbook claims the bettor continued to bet in this fashion before it retroactively deleted all account winnings.
Hello, The basic description of the story is that I was apparently warned around December 25th or 26th that I was "playing moves and if I continued my deposit would be returned to me." On December 27th, I was attempting to place a wager but could not because my account balance was $0. I looked at my account history and saw that my original deposit amout had been withdrawn back to me and, to my complete surprise, I noticed a deduction of $4,311.88 with the description: "ZERO OUT, PLAYED MOVES AND WAS WARNED HE WOULD RECEIVE HIS DEPOSIT AMOUNT AND CLOSED ACCOUNT." At the time, I was with them for only about a week and up a little more than $4,300
The player shared his complaint on the sbr forum before being offered half of his $4,311 winnings as a compromise. sbr has stated to the player and the sportsbook that anything less than payment of full winnings is blatant theft. Sportsbooks are welcome to limit and deny wagers to all players but cannot justly punish, fine, or confiscate funds from legitimate finalized betting contracts. The player wrote to sbr today saying the sportsbook has agreed to pay in full next week. Failure to pay winnings combined with problems updating lines may be a warning sign regarding a book's overall health. sbr will update this dispute report next week or sooner if the bettor receives payment.

Sportsbook.com (sbr rating D-) to no-action if-win wagers on same game
A player complained that his $28,000 account was frozen after a payout request. Sportsbook.com was reviewing his wager history. The player explained that he made numerous if-win wagers on the same game giving him an unfair advantage. He and Sportsbook.com have agreed the best solution was to cancel all wagers made in that manner. Sportsbook.com states that all players who made if-win bets on the same game will have their wagers canceled and that balances will be adjusted this weekend. Players who made losing same-game if-win wagers should verify that they received a credit adjustment for those losses.

HeroesCasino (sbr rating C) vs. player
A Heroes player reported winning $34,748 playing blackjack in the casino before requesting a payout on December 6th. Heroes Casino management stated that an "extreme win/loss ratio" prompted the sportsbook to believe the player used some form of robot or assisting program to beat the casino software. Heroes states that the use of a "robot" is cheating and is currently having the play reviewed by third parties. sbr will follow the player's dispute and report on HeroesCasino's conclusions.

The Heroes' rules page states that robot/auto-play is not allowed and is grounds for canceling winnings. The rule does not refer to collecting data, or using a program assisting in doing so, in an effort to find software patterns. The player discusses recording table history on pen and pad.
All Casino and Sportsbook wagers must be placed through the user interface provided by Heroes Casino on its website or through the web browser. Any wagering through other means, including the use of a "robot" player, is strictly prohibited. In the event that use of non-approved client software is detected, Heroes Casino reserves the right to invalidate all such wagers retroactively, cancel the Player's account, or take any other appropriate counteraction. Players found using multiple browsers and/or found attempting to manipulate or ascertain information concerning the Casino software will forfeit all winnings and their accounts will be terminated.
HeroesCasino's rules page (rule 8) also makes a vague reference to "employing a system."

New 10bet (sbr rating C) complaint of canceled wagers after line moves in player's favor
Player:
I placed 5 bets on (Redditch United vs Burscough - Full MoneyLine Burscough +340) odds from +340 to +320 10bet accepted more bets but lower odds. The payout % at 10bet was about 90% and the odds was in line with the market, but when the market started to move 10bet canceled all bets, saying that they had mistyped odds.
The sportsbook states they canceled the wager due to an error listing which team was home and which was visiting. 10bet "typing mistakes" have been costly to players in the past. The majority of negative feedback from 10bet users references some type of canceled bet or error in the way the wager was listed.

Stryyke (not rated) players complain of voided winning wagers and slow-pay
Stryyke canceled a tennis wager in October citing a mistake on the listed wagering odds. The odds were not erroneous and the book has not offered to pay the bet at what it deems to be the correct market price. sbr will contact the sportsbook about this matter and about the company in general. sbr expects to complete a rating evaluation of Stryyke next week.
Player: This won and was correctly credited to my account. However, after requesting a payout on 24/11/2008 they sent me an email saying the payout was cancelled and this wager was being made void. At no point before or after the event in question did I receive any comunication from them about this happening, therefore I find it extremely dubious and unfair behaviour.

sbr will also inquire with Stryyke about a Moneybookers payout delay of one month. The sportsbook told the player that its Moneybookers account is unfunded. Stryyke has not offered a withdrawal by other means.
Player: They says that they have not funds in their moneybookers account and that they will sort this soon, but the same story for 1 month. I ask them to withdraw by bank transfer but they says its no need for that because I will not receive my funds faster. They also deducted money from my account so I can not withdraw via an alternate method.

bwin (sbr rating C) poor communication costly to players
sbr routinely receives complaints from bwin players who have had their winnings or bonus confiscated and account closed without explanation. In most cases, bwin has taken just action against fraudulent players. In rare cases when the decision is questionable or the player has a valid wagering dispute, the bettor requires assistance escalating the matter to management. On November 16, a player bet on a halftime line of Gary Mawson (USA) - Kirk Shepherd (ENG) (2Way - Who will win?) Gary Mawson (USA) when Mawson was up 4-0, at odds of 1.1. Bwin canceled the bet without explanation after the event was finished. When sbr first contacted bwin, it stated that the wager was late after the line was supposed to be off the board. The player insisted that his wager was not past-posted and asked for proof. Bwin then admitted the wager was mistakenly canceled. sbr has advised bwin to open discussion with all players and allow each to respond to allegations of fraud, or change to a more manageable bonus program. | Player on frustration dealing with bwin customer support

Oddsmaker (sbr rating D-) bonus scam costs another player $1,500. The player player placed parlays and striaght wagers when betting with his Oddsmaker try-us-out bonus money. A player has a parlay in his acount history will see his account set to zero when he eventually requests a payout. The sportsbook routinely allows players to make winning plays for months despite the fact that a parlay wager early in the account history will be reason to deny payout requets. The fine print regarding parlays is on the book's rules page and not supplied with the promotion. Oddsmaker previously told sbr they would honor winnings prior to when the first parlay wager was made, would add the rule to the correct website pages, and clarify the rule in its terms of service. The book has not made these changes and players continue to waste winning picks on an account that cannot yield a profit. Players who have added to their balance with deposited funds have also had winnings removed despite having their own funds at risk and enough deposited cash to cover the wager.
Oddsmakers.com sent me an email for a free $200 account which had no strings or restrictions. Over the months between baseball and football wagers, I built it up to $2,000, then lost some where I currenty have juslt under $1,500 sitting in a real money account. I wanted to request a $500 cashout as I was laid off from my job. When I talked with live chat requesting one, they said I couldn't have one since I didn't meet the so-called conditions of terms.
Now, when I went back to check my real money balance, they wiped it out completely showing 0 balance just because I asked for a PIN. Why didn't they wipe this out long, long, ago, why wait until I ask for a PIN over 8 months later?

TradeSports (sbr rating C+) to close Friday, November 28th
The betting exchange cites difficulties with transferring funds, which impacts trading volume, as motivation for the decision. Unlike a sportsbook that can follow general markets to offer wagers, Tradesports relied on person to person activity similar to a pokerroom in order to offer a quality product.
We underestimated the difficulties that current and new customers would experience in funding accounts and partly as a result of this we have reluctantly decided to close TradeSports. While we are not hopeful that funding issues may dissipate soon, should they TradeSports will be back and it is therefore an imperative for us to effect and orderly and goodwill preserving closure for you all.

sbr Justin reports: BetSuperior (sbr rating D+) player balance confiscation
On April 10th, an employee of BetSuperior enticed a large bettor he knew from working at a previous sportsbook, with a credit line of $5000. The player lost this in the casino, and paid off his debt to the house. Over the following two weeks, the player made additional deposits totaling $8500. He made some sports wagers but most of his action was in the BetSuperior casino. During that time, the player and the BetSuperior account representative corresponded numerous times about the casino. The player's limits were raised to $500 per hand, and the rules were adjusted to reduce the house edge to be more comparable to that of blackjack on the Las Vegas Strip. The player gave Superior high volume play, some nights putting over $1 million in action. During that period, the sportsbook gave him multiple bonuses totaling approximately $18,000. One of these bonuses was a $5,000 credit that was applied with no deposit requirements. At the end of the week two the player went on a significant winning streak bringing his balance up to $120,000. The sportsbook then confiscated the balance. BetSuperior management claimed that the sportsbook employee, who was managing the account and authorized to give bonuses, should not have applied these bonuses and that the player's balance would be reduced to zero as a result. BetSuperior also claimed that the player and employee were in cahoots, and cheated at Blackjack by modifying the software. No proof of this claim was offered, despite sbr's offer to analyze the player hand history. BetSuperior has since been rebranded as BetSportsWeb (sbr rating D+).

Bet1128 (sbr rating D+) player complains the sportsbook confiscated his balance of over $37,000 Euros the week of August 24, 2008. He was one of five complaining players that won over $100,000 Euros combined betting on Olympic boxing round-robin parlays. Bet1128 closed all the player accounts and seized all balances including deposits, claiming they were a betting syndicate. Bet1128 does not claim the players exceeded the maximum stake per bet with multiple accounts, bet from the same location or at the same time, or exceeded the one-day maximum win amount of $150,000 Euros. Their sole explanation was:
"Our customer XXXXX YYYYY has been linked to a group of punter. It’s our right to protect ourselves against this kind of strategy, which is unfair and deemed as cheating by our terms and conditions. We are able to prove the link of these players and ready to show to the relevant body. We are looking forward to receive official request from all the person involved in the affair, in order to clarify our position as soon as possible."
Bet1128 failed to provide valid reasons for their actions. The sportsbook states that an IBAS investigation is pending. Bet1128's rules do not prohibit players from sharing wagering information. The player admits to knowing the other sports bettors and states he did not initiate or take part in an investigation with third party, IBAS.

Sports.com (sbr rating D-) cancels player's winning wager
Sports.com canceled a bet on the 2nd quarter of Thursday's Auburn versus West Virginia game when the quarter was near completion.
Player: This bet was clearly on the 2Q and action was taken on it during the commercial between the 1st and 2nd Qtr and the line moved the whole time. Then during the 2Q, after it was obviously going to be a winner, it was cancelled---unacceptable.
Sports.com customer service initial response to the player was that the offering was not labeled correctly for a 2nd quarter wager and all bets placed on it were canceled. The player feels as though the sportsbook created a situation where it could not lose since it had the ability to cite the error if the outcome was not to its liking. Sports.com is operated by Sportsbook.com (sbr rating D-) which has canceled winning wagers in the past due to clerical errors. sbr intends to speak with management about this latest issue.

The scam allows the book to take continuous action on multiple teams throughout the season, eventually stiffing only those who bet on the championship team. BestHockeyBetting's homepage highlights generous futures odds on which team will win both NHL conferences and the Stanley Cup. Players should avoid Best Hockey Betting and its sister EZ Sports books at all costs.

Betting Barack Obama or John McCain? sbrforum writer Elihu Feustel takes a look at finding value betting the 2008 election.
With the last few elections being nail-biters going down to the wire, the 2008 election is getting a lot of betting interest across the world. As of October 5, the democrats have an advantage. The polls show a moderate lead for the Barack Obama in Michigan, and smaller leads in Ohio and Florida. The betting markets favor the democrats more decisively. Matchbook’s offers of -315/+292 and TheGreek’s prices of -360/280 suggest about a 75% chance of a democratic victory. These prices are consistent with what the polls show – electoral-vote.com indicates that Obama has a lead of 329 to 194 electoral votes if the election happened today.

Lazerwager (sbr rating F) officially folds with player funds; parent company scams continue
Lazerwager again cites frozen funds of third party processors as reason for finally calling it quits. The book used the processor excuse again despite only transferring two partial withdrawals to players since last year's Super Bowl. LazerWager blamed a credit card processor that froze post-up funds in February. LazerWager admitted that it made the mistake of relying on one processor to collect all monies and that without player deposits it did not have the needed funds to pay winners. The sportsbook lied to players saying that it would be transferring money from other business ventures. During the stalling and false promises of 2008, the sportsbook marketed aggressively to get new deposits from unsuspecting bettors. The Lazerwager staff told sbr prior to payout issues that the book is owned by GPS Global SA, also known as Evolution Sports Data Processing (evodp.com). Scam Alert: Palacebet.com (sbr rating F-) back online. The sportsbook website was taken down by the host provider after repeated scam reports. Although the sportsbook no longer offers online banking, players should beware of solicitation for Western Union deposits for too-good-to-be-true offers.

The Scam: Fake professional handicappers refer players to palacebet. The player signs up at the site and sends his deposit to Palacebet. His balance is instantly controlled by the pro handicappers, who are referred to by the book's customer service as "the player's Sports Advisors." The bettor is then promised a line of credit so he can bet larger sums on the "advisors' syndicate picks." He is told he must cover a $4,000 transaction cost for a bank wire from the touts to his account (which never occurs since the book simply adjusts the available balance in the software) and is promised it will be reimbursed to him upon cashing out. If the player is lucky enough to survive the "syndicate picks" that are designed to eat away his bankroll, he is asked to deposit another $4,000 in transaction fees before he can have access to his funds including the money he deposited. A player who complained to sbr was told he had to pay $4,000 maintain access to his account after winning $20,000.

BettingStar24 (sbr rating D) reopens; players advised to request funds
The sportsbook posted vague messages on its website earlier this week about transferring player accounts and informing users that customer support would not be offered during this time. No time line for a resolution was offered. BettingStar24's website displays a new message stating that negotiations allowed the sportsbook to reopen. It is not uncommon for Malta-licensed sportsbooks to struggle with internal business issues before eventually closing for good. PlayBanks and BetChance each showed signs of stumbling including intermittent payouts, temporarily removing account access, and/or announcing new ownership before eventually closing for good. Players are advised to test BS24's withdrawal process and avoid the book while it handles internal issues.

Waubet (not rated) closes after week of stalling users
WauGaming.com: Dear Wauw user, For a while we’ve known that we’d need more invested capital into our company in order to reach Break Even on our current activities. Unfortunately we haven’t succeeded in raising the necessary investor capital, and thus we’ve decided to close down our business. The total amount due to our customers, meaning also your balance/funds if relevant, are to a large extend secured via the demand by the Maltese Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LGA) for separation of company funds and customer/user funds. Some of these funds are kept as reserves at 3rd parties for up to 9 months though and thus we’re not able to pay everybody’s full balance straight away. We’ll cooperate fully with the LGA in order to try and find a solution securing that everybody will have their funds paid as soon as possible. We’ll give further information on the homepage and by email when relevant. We’re very sorry for the inconveniences brought on you by this, but hope you’ll understand that we’re doing everything possible in order to try and satisfy all involved parties in this difficult situation. Kind regards, Wauw Gaming

The sportsbook has been posting messages about server problems and needing "spare parts" for over a week. A player waiting for funds requested prior to the website coming off-line observed characteristics often associated with high-risk bookmaking: "I have never had any problems with them earlier. But their limits have always been exceptionally high even for smaller leagues and their odds have been very slow moving even when the market has been moving fast. Signs of danger maybe". Waubet joins fellow Malta-based defunct sportsbook BetChance (sbr rating F) in telling players that they may or may not receive their funds in nine months.

SpyCasino (sbr rating F) closes with player funds
Futurebet's SpyCasino was accepting deposits until as recently as late August and has owed players since late 2006. During the last year the sportsbook served as a deposit-only scam site for Futurebet. The domain name has expired and players are no longer able to see their account balances. SpyCasino was the second Futurebet-operated site to close with player funds in two weeks. USDbet (sbr rating F), which primarily marketed to sports forum posters, also went off-line with a debt to players. Futurebet now claims to be IGaming Software and unaffiliated with the Futurebet brand. Oddsmaker (sbr rating D-) and BetOnUSA (sbr rating D-) are the main sources of revenue for the group.

Unibet enters the sbr Rating Guide at B+. Unibet focuses on the European market. Unibet Group plc acquired MrBookmaker in 2005 for GBP 22.25 million cash and shares in an effort to expand in France and Belgium. The Malta-based gaming company receives mostly positive feedback with some complaints about payout delays due to account verification and audits upon withdrawal request. Some players report a two week wait during the process.

LasPalmas (sbr rating B-) owed player reports receiving moneygram payment with an additional payment scheduled for monday. The low limit method was offered as a short term option to bank wire. The sportsbook states that it is funding its bank wire processor so it will be able to service these large winners. Players requesting smaller sums report receiving payment in normal timeframes.

9/10/2008 11:41 PM
Two LasPalmas (sbr rating B-) players report waiting for a total amount of $40,000 originally requested in June and July. The book was unable to offer a reason for delays to these large winners. A third player, who has been using the sportsbook for three years, is waiting for $5,000. He was told that he cannot withdraw his funds for two weeks without paying processing fees and forfeiting a $500 reload bonus. The sportsbook cites a 30 day hold bonus rule that clearly applies only to "new players," as the reason for these conditions.
