Gamebookers settes all tennis wagers as losses on two-way market
Gamebookers (SBR rating B-) is again subject of a
tennis grading complaint due to its non-standard policy of grading all tennis Exact Score wagers as losses upon a player's retirement. A bettor placed a wager of £63 on an exact set score of 2-0 on the Zvonareva vs Jankovic Wimbledon WTA singles match. After losing the first set, Jankovic retired.
Gamebookers graded the player's wager as a loss, however none of the full game exact scores are winners. The industry standard for a multi-way wager is that if there is a losing side, someone wins or pushes.
Other sportsbooks, such as
pinnacle Sports (SBR rating A+) have clearer rules for this scenario: "If a tennis match is not completed because of a player retirement or disqualification, all Set wagers will be considered void. Such wagers will be cancelled and the monies refunded."
SBR is following up with Gamebookers regarding their decision.

Bestake fraud updateUpdate to 6/20
Bestake fraud report - SBR has received 30 complaints from Bestake players on the sportsbook's new "Show me the money" feature. Bestake placed a link for the promotion next to an inaccurate description: "New Feature: Express 4 hours withdraw. Start now.".
Players clicked on the link believing they were withdrawing money, and saw their entire account balance disappear. Players balances were divided up into 6 ''matched'' bets in equal; amounts on the following games:
Slovenia/England Draw at 4.50
Ghana (vs Germany) at 5.4
USA/Algeria Draw at 3.8
Japan (vs Denmark) at 3.55
Italy (vs Slovakia) at 1.7
Korea/Ivory Coast Draw at 5.4
SBR contacted Tom Walsh of Bestake, who stated the following:
Bestake management: I
saw the claims at SBR, the rules was very clear and apparently the users
that
made those claims did not read our rules about that feature (New Feature - Show Me The Money).
When you are choosing this option the system will automatically choose 6 events
to win, all your found in the account will be split between those events. you
must win all the games ( all the games are considered as one event), if you
lose one game your will lose the whole event. The winner will get a withdraw
after 4 hours guaranteed of the last event + 15% bonus of the winning
amount.
Bestakes
promotion violates contract law and common sense. Players attempting to withdraw instead were given six World Cup bets
they did not want. Additionally, the prices given on the matches were
unreasonably low. For example, Slovenia was matched at a price of 4.5 (+350),
while
pinnacle was offering Slovenia at 7.99 (+699). Finally, the rules for the
promotion are unclear at best, and unconscionable at worst. One reading of the
rules could treat the 6 wagers as a parlay paying very poor odds. Bestake was
asked about this, but offered no clarification.
SBR has
recommended that Bestake void all the wagers created from the misleading link,

Lay104 enters the SBR rating guide at D+. The new reduced juice sportsbook is a sister book of
BetFirstClass (SBR rating C-). The discounted vig booking model is one of the hardest to sustain, even at -107. Many have tried and very few have survived. As with all businesses the most necessary ingredient with low sales margins is high volume. Unlike
pinnacle (SBR rating A+) and
Betfair (SBR rating A+), this is something Lay104 does not have. SBR would expect the group to close the brand if it gained enough popularity and active players to show long term financial forecasts.

Gamebookers subject of tennis bet grading complaint
Gamebookers (SBR rating B-), a member of the
Partybets family, unfairly grades tennis wager as a loser, taking 63 Pounds ($109) from a player. The player bet on an exact set-score market, wagering Vassallo Arguello to beat Bellucci by 3-0. Bellucci retired midway through the 3rd set with the score at 1 set each. The book's rule states
In the event of a participant withdrawing after the start of a tennis match, the respective bets will be deemed void if at the time of suspension they are still not decided as winning or losing (e.g. First Set and First Set Exacta will be settled if the first set has ended).
The rule is ambiguous on exact set-scoring with a retirement. Other books have clearer rules on this scenario. From
pinnacle Sports (SBR rating A+): "If a tennis match is not completed because of a player retirement or disqualification, all Set wagers will be considered void. Such wagers will be cancelled and the monies refunded." Under
Gamebookers' interpretation, the exact-set betting will have many losing bets, but no winning bets with a retirement. The industry standard is that for any multi-way market, such as exact set-scoring, there must be at least one winning bet.

Industry loses veteran linesmaker, FernandoFernando, who was only in his mid 50s, was best known by players for his years as Lines Director at Hollywood Sportsbook. Fernando was a talented line manager who first gained notoriety for his exceptional ability to set NHL opening odds. He worked with Hollywood for years until the sportsbook was sold to the Sportsbook.com Group in May of 2006. At its peak Hollywood was an A+ sportsbook that, under Fernando, was one of the few sportsbooks to join
pinnacle Sports (SBR rating A+) offering reduced juice. Fernando was a line manager at BetPhoenix at the time of his passing. He reportedly suffered from a heart attack Saturday. We at SBR send our condolences to Fernando's friends and family.

DimeLine Sportsbook (SBR rating D+) confiscating winnings and bonuses from winning players
Dimeline offered exorbitant bonuses up to 100% with a limit of $2,000 that attracted players in a UK-focused betting forum. The four players to report to SBR wagered well over six figures. The sportsbook took notice of the play and lowered their betting limits. After the players continued to win, their accounts were frozen. The sportsbook claimed that using a line comparison service, similar to SBRlines.com, made the players
nonrecreational and ineligible for the bonus given. Dimeline's line manager labeled bets on their soft lines (lines that are late to update along with betting market leaders such as
Bookmaker (SBR rating A+) and
pinnacle (SBR rating A+) ) as "steam plays." Three of four of these players came from the same website but are unique accounts that have wagered from their individual locations. DLS has proposed paying the players half of their winnings rationalizing that they had double the funds to work with at the start of the account. All bonuses, despite amount rolled over, will be removed. Four Dimeline players had their accounts disabled and over $36,000 has been frozen since

New bwin (SBR rating C) player reports canceled bet after win; bwin cites bet being placed three minutes after post time
Player: I have read about your follow-up in a case with a cancelled NBA wager with Bwin, and I am in a similar situation. On the third of march, I placed a wager on Jazz-Raptors for the 1st half total, at 17.33 CET. The ticket nr is 1PTBL1L5EX. The ticket should be a winner, but Bwin cancelled, claiming that it was placed too late, and the game had started at 17.30. But I know pinnacle had this line open even two minutes after I placed the Bwin bet. I wrote to Bwin two times, complaining, but they wouldn't honour the wager. They actually first graded it as a winner, then they cancelled long after. I can't remember exactly how long, but no less than 6 hours, maybe more. I remember logging in to my account the day after the bet had been settled, and wondering about my balance. I checked my statement, and found that they had altered the ticket, changing it from a winner to a cancelled ticket. I hope you can help me in this case, as it seems you have been able to help another player in the same sort of situation.

Jazz and ABCislands downgraded from B+ to B yesterday due to listing unavailable transfer options. Two non-US players have complained that they would not have deposited if they had known that book-to-book transfers with pinnacle Sports (SBR rating A+) and Bookmaker (SBR rating A+), as well as Neteller transfers were not available as advertised. Some players have taken a check paying the additional fees while having to accept the smaller transfer limits. Jazz plans to make both of these options available by the end of next week and will be reevaluated at that time.

Bet1128 (not rated) cancels winning bet; does not respond to player email or follow policy.
The 1128.com player wagered on a soccer total that he claims was in line with the market price. After the event had concluded and the wager had won Bet1128 canceled the bet, failing to adhere to its listed rule regarding faulty betting lines. SBR will contact 1128 on player's behalf
Bet1128 Rule 17: If during transcription, typing or printing a quoted odds is visibly incorrect (e.g. 1.50/2.50) the company reserves the right to reinstate the original odds even after the result is known. In such cases comparison with other bookmakers currently on the market will, in good faith, give evidence of the error.
Player: The line was balanced, the odds were normal for the moment, although there was a steam process, reflected in pinnacle's odds of 2.11 for under 2.75 [goals]. pinnacle's odds continued drifting after I placed my bets; they reached 2.26, and later the line was moved to 3 goals. Bet1128 removed the game, then posted it again 1/2 hour later, this time with a 3 goal total. My pick should have been a winner, as the game ended 0-4. I should have won $838.73

More sportsbooks considering reduced juice pricing In an effort to obtain market share formerly held by
pinnacle Sports (SBR rating A+), many sportsbooks will target players with new offers of reduced vigorish and low juice promotions. Multiple bookmakers have told SBR they are considering moving to "discount wagering" full-time after the announcement from
pinnacle to leave the US market.
5Dimes (SBR rating A) told SBR today that they have decided to offer -105 style lines (10 cent pricing) on all NHL hockey games.
5Dimes already offered -105 lines on the NFL playoffs. Sportsbooks must be extremely skilled and experienced in order to manage low margin wagering. SBR advises players to stay with the best and most proven sportsbooks.

Bet365 (SBR rating A+) players complain of inadequate rule change notification. SBR has received three complaints from users who say they were unaware of recent rule changes that were the difference between winning and losing wagers.
Bet365 changed their wagering rules, making overtime in all basketball leagues count for over-under wagers. Most
Bet365 users are likely finding out about rule change when their bet on a game that went into overtime is graded.
Beginning January 1st, 2007, all sportsbooks on
SBR’s
Recommended List will be required to offer a ’policy updates’ log or another method of alerting players of policy changes.

European basketball has never counted overtime! How am i supposed to know?? Should I refresh the rules page along with the odds?? At least pinnacle announces the new rule at top of main page and other book will email you. SBR Costa Rica: Cigar speaks with SBR on CRIS (SBR rating A+) For those that might of thought that CRIS is complacent with simply being in every ones top 5, think again. "Our goal is to be number one". Much of the credit is given to Mickey who has risen through the ranks and took advantage of his opportunity to lead CRIS into the postup business. The addition of Gary has made this one of the best teams in the industry. CRIS has steadily climbed the SBR Recommended List from 6th last year to 2nd behind only

BetWWTS (SBR rating A+) "I transfereed money from the sportsbook to the casino. After the transfer the money was in neither account. They did take care of it but it was a hassle."
BetOnGames (SBR rating A-) "Have you noticed the web site is down more since VIP bought them? BetOnGames is (or was) the best book out there but not if they can’t keep it up on the internet."
pinnacle (SBR Rating A+) "They have a $500 minimum for a free payout. My account was at $480 so I deposited $20 to make $500 to get the free payout. They still charged me $15. Grrr!"

Some newer sportsbooks upgraded after end of the year reviews. Mansion now holds a respectable C+ SBR rating and is by far the most interesting new sportsbook of the class of 2004. We continue to remain somewhat cautious on Mansion despite the high level of financing from a millionaire cigarette tycoon from Asia and a capable management staff. Mansion has taken aim at the two toughest competitors in the industry in
pinnacle (SBR rating A+) and
BetFair (SBR rating A+). History is not on the side of books that take on those two goliaths, however Mansion could be the exception.

SBR surveys three top sportsbooks on how they did with the 2004 baseball season: pinnacle(SBR rating A+): Baseball was good this year. There was one stretch just after the all-star break that I think the players were using tomorrows paper to pick the games....players were feasting on under valued favorites. Overall, this has been an excellent baseball season, probably the best ever, for pinnacle.
VIP (SBR rating A+): This year broke character with the last four years. In the previous few years, players won early and won big. This year the book had a good start but the players roared back with a vengeance in the final 1/3 of the season. VIP added 1st inning and first 5 inning props as well as others and overall I think this was a decent year for us in baseball, certainly not great.
BetJamaica(SBR rating A+): Baseball was definitely better this year than last; we got off to a very strong start, an amazing start. The players got it together in late August and have been winning most of the big decisions ever since. So for BetJamaica this has been a terrific baseball season. We handled the professional crowd but the general public hit a lot of big games down the stretch.

The two hottest new gaming software launches delayed again. BetWWTS (SBR rating A+) which was to launch a version of Victor Chandler's sports betting platform has informed SBR that the launch scheduled for July 12th, is "Delayed indefinitely". There are at least three sportsbooks that heavily invested in this platform including Bowmans (SBR rating A-).
pinnacle Sports (SBR rating A+) much anticipated casino again is delayed. Apparently the casino is live in-house and for a few invited guests. One source from a casino review site who said he had played one session and was sworn to secrecy said "..its ready but I guess they have their reasons(for not going live). Heritage Downgraded - removed from the Full Recommended List - Sharp players upset their limits were lowered have created a significant exodus/ run on the bank - Insiders and credit agents
among those heading for the exits. There have been zero slow pay complaints - book may actually reemerge stronger after it completes the purge of its professional player base - Heritage GM who has a history of personal problems was one of the founders of
