gamebookers settes all tennis wagers as losses on two-way market
gamebookers (SBR rating B-) is again subject of a
tennis grading complaint due to its non-standard policy of grading all tennis Exact Score wagers as losses upon a player's retirement. A bettor placed a wager of £63 on an exact set score of 2-0 on the Zvonareva vs Jankovic Wimbledon WTA singles match. After losing the first set, Jankovic retired.
gamebookers graded the player's wager as a loss, however none of the full game exact scores are winners. The industry standard for a multi-way wager is that if there is a losing side, someone wins or pushes.
Other sportsbooks, such as
Pinnacle Sports (SBR rating A+) have clearer rules for this scenario: "If a tennis match is not completed because of a player retirement or disqualification, all Set wagers will be considered void. Such wagers will be cancelled and the monies refunded."
SBR is following up with
gamebookers regarding their decision.

gamebookers subject of tennis bet grading complaint
gamebookers (SBR rating B-), a member of the
Partybets family, unfairly grades tennis wager as a loser, taking 63 Pounds ($109) from a player. The player bet on an exact set-score market, wagering Vassallo Arguello to beat Bellucci by 3-0. Bellucci retired midway through the 3rd set with the score at 1 set each. The book's rule states
In the event of a participant withdrawing after the start of a tennis match, the respective bets will be deemed void if at the time of suspension they are still not decided as winning or losing (e.g. First Set and First Set Exacta will be settled if the first set has ended).
The rule is ambiguous on exact set-scoring with a retirement. Other books have clearer rules on this scenario. From
Pinnacle Sports (SBR rating A+): "If a tennis match is not completed because of a player retirement or disqualification, all Set wagers will be considered void. Such wagers will be cancelled and the monies refunded." Under
gamebookers' interpretation, the exact-set betting will have many losing bets, but no winning bets with a retirement. The industry standard is that for any multi-way market, such as exact set-scoring, there must be at least one winning bet.

gamebookers (SBR rating B-) player confirms receiving 851 Euros. Customer service initially told the play his funds were "seized" after he used foul language on multiple occasions.|

gamebookers (SBR rating B-) agrees to pay player 851 Euros On 2/16/09
SBR reported that the sportsbook informed a player his account is closed and funds have been seized per "management's decision." The action was the result of repeated harassment and profanity directed at Gamebooker's customer support.
gamebookers states that it will pay the player in full and his account will remain closed. SBR to confirm payment.

Player vs. gamebookers (SBR rating B-)
gamebookers lowered a players wagering limits. The player sends a profanity laced email in protest and requests a withdrawal of 851 Euros on 2/9/09. On 2/10/09 the player sends a new obscenity-filled email to the Gamebooker's cashier, calling them thieves and demanding his funds. Later that day the player is informed that his account is closed and funds have been seized per "management's decision." SBR is currently attempting to contact parent company Party Gaming management and will update this report.

Betting exchange-style sportsbook BetBug closes
BetBug (SBR rating C+) is owned by Trident Gaming, which sold
gamebookers (SBR rating B-) to PartyGaming in August of last year. Despite innovative download-required software and a 2006 marketing campaign, BetBug was unable to capture targeted U.S. business and compete with exhange-style books, Mansion and Matchbook.

BetWWTS(SBR rating A+) reportedly acquiring rival sportsbook for $6.15 million dollars. BetWWTS has raised $3.5 million dollars by issuing additional common shares. The acquisition will be a cash and stock deal. The acquisition is subject to BetWWTS’s Board of Directors and shareholder approval. There is speculation the takeover candidate is Intertops (SBR rating B+) which would be a nice acquisition. SBR would include
gamebookers (SBR rating C+) as a definite possibility.

SBR Bill Dozer reports: Common mistake by gamebookers (SBR rating C+) costs another player his winning wager. SBR has recently received multiple complaints from
gamebookers players who have won a wager, only to have the win cancelled due to a team listing error.
gamebookers seems to have trouble listing the team names correctly, particularly in American sports. Complaints have been similar to the one posted below.
gamebookers does not use a rotation number to identify teams numerically.
“Dear Sirs,
I noticed you improved gamebookers rating from C- to C+. Yesterday GB offered a NCAA basketball match for Cincinnati vs. Florida -10/+10 @ -110. Today I noticed my winning bet is cancelled. Support told me that it was mistake in the team name, that it was SOUTH Florida not Florida. It was canceled about 2 hours after the match result was known. The offer was exactly the same as in another bookmaker so it wasn’t a mistake in odds or something. In my opinion this is serious and maybe C+ rating is too high for GB?
