Bodog (SBR rating C+) tells SBR that maximum check processing time is down from 40 to 20 business days. Player feedback has reflected this over last few weeks. Bettors with the ability to accept Neteller and other eWallets continue to report same day payouts.

HeroesCasino enters the SBR rating guide at C. Heroes is owned by one of the former owners of
OasisCasino (SBR rating C+). OasisCasino was sold to
WWTS (SBR rating C+) for $9.8 million
in
July of 2006 before
Bodog (SBR rating C) acquired WWTS in October of that same year. Like Oasis, Heroes is located in Willemstad Curacao. Unlike
Oasis, Heroes is booking on a -105
reduced juice lineset. Ownership also tells SBR that Heroes management has not worked under Oasis and will not confiscate earned, or partially earned, bonuses as Oasis management did on two occasions in 2005. SBR will monitor the new book and its policies. As with all new sportsbooks, players planning to play are advised to proceed with caution and are asked to send all feedback to
SBR.
8/23/2008 01:15 PM
Bodog (SBR rating C) processing problems continue. The sportsbook's business has suffered from its inability to make timely payouts and 147 staff members were let go from Bodog's Canada office. No changes have been made in Antigua as of today. Bodog continues to quote 40 business days for new withdrawal requests and is not expected to shorten that time frame before the start of football. SBR is receiving updates from Bodog on payouts requested as far back as the beginning of June. SBR has confirmed multiple payments received from players who originally filed complaints on May and June withdrawal requests.
8/2/2008 02:41 PM
Bodog downgraded due to processing issues. Bodog (SBR rating B-) tells SBR that closing third party processors have forced them to reroute transfers through other payment services. This has caused players to wait even longer than the 40 business days listed on the
Bodog website. Players who deposited via person-to-person transfer methods have the ability to receive payment through the same method within three business days. Non-U.S. users using eWallets, Neteller or Moneybookers are offered payment within one business day.
Bodog's downgrades from A to B- this summer reflect the book's inability to send checks or bank wires in a time frame consistent with top sportsbooks.

Bodog was known as the only sportsbook to automatically credit a 10% or 20% bonus to every deposit. The sportsbook cites an increase in payment processing costs, after the most cost effective money transferring services left the US market, for prompting the change.

Bowmans player balances received a 10% bonus with a 1x roll-over that can be forfeited if the player prefers to withdraw funds. Players can now log into
Bodog using their
Bowmans account details. Pending wagers are expected to be imported to
Bodog’s system in 24 to 48 hours. Players who also held a
Bodog account will have their
Bowmans balances moved to the original
Bodog account within 24-48 hours and will have two active
Bodog accounts until the consolidation is complete. Bowmans says the decision was influenced by their casino and poker providers, which both stopped servicing US residents, and their European bank refusing to support a US-serving gaming company. Bowmans will refocus on Canadian, European and Asian markets after cutting away over half of its client base.

Merger and Aquistion activety at all time high. VIP Sports is the most active buyer. YouWager, BetRoyal and many smaller books are all said to be Sellers actively seeking buyouts. BetCRIS could also be a Buyer under the right circumstances which recently has focused on bailing out small operators. BetWWTS has made several trips and has signed at least one confidentiality agreement although we are unaware of any serious interest. Sportsbooks who have had made M&A headlines in the recent past that appear to be holding pat; Hollywood,
Bodog, SportsInteraction are said to be no longer active Sellers. Smaller operations such as BetMaker, YouWager and Sportbet along with operations that have difficult reputations such as Royal Sports have mostly signed confidentiality agreements giving buyers a chance to possibly make an offer. SBR expects a pick-up in M&A activity despite rising valuations.

Bodog.
Bodog offices are bright and highly organized. Working conditions for clerks and staff is impressive. SBR continues to request
Bodog consider changes to their conservative bookmaking approach. Putting betting lines up earlier even if wagering limits are lowered or circled until closer to game time is one such idea.

As 2004 gives way to the New year, SBR takes a look back: The self proclaimed best sportsbook in the world;
Bodog (SBR rating A-), lightened things up with a publicity stunt of the like the industry had never seen before. The
Bodog CEO, Cole Turner, staged a kidnapping in the jungles of Asia by a Kung-fu homosexual rebel tribe. Industry insiders are still scratching their head over that unusal publicity stunt. On a more serious note, the opening of
Hail Mary Sportsbook is a "Must See" look back.
3/2/2004 12:00 AM
Bodog (SBR rating B+ and being considered for the SBR Recommended List) CEO goes on the offensive releasing financial results and balance sheet figures - Compared to the end of the year figures
Bodog provided SBR last year (2002),
Bodog's Net Cash to Player Escrow ratio improved from $2.60 to $1 to $4.05 to $1, meaning for every dollar
Bodog holds in escrow for players they currently have over $4 of net cash(less debt) on hand. The problem with this type of reporting is that it is not verified or audited in any way. However, SBR has over the past year raised
Bodog from an early '03 low of D+ to its current rating of B+ based on collaborating reports from Costa Rican sources that their business model was solidly accelerating as well as player feedback. SBR recognizes
Bodogs significant financial improvement but will not put significant weight into unverified financial reports released by the CEO. SBR would feel more comfortable seeing financial highlights that carry a verified endorsement as to accuracy by an independent registered Canadian Chartered Accountant.
