BetMania officially acquired by BetPhoenix. BetMania began using BetPhoenix hosting and services in September with the intention of being moved under Phoenix ownership. The sportsbooks reported a drawn out legal process delaying the acquisition and leaving
BetMania players to wonder about the status of their book and its financial position. Phoenix tells SBR that
BetMania management will be retained and the sportsbook will operate as a separate brand.

BetMania (SBR rating D) changing offices and software. The sportsbook moved from Pavas to Rohrmoser Costa Rica this morning and expects to be online by 3:00pm today.
BetMania has also moved from ASI software to new software, MXA Systems. Management tells SBR that player accounts will be accessible and reflect the correct account information this afternoon.
Update 9/3/2008 10:27:24 PM: BetMania remains inaccessible. SBR to seek update tomorrow.

BetMania (SBR rating D) agrees to pay player for winning bets canceled on 4/30/07
Mania management states it will not scrutinize these types of wagers or punish users for advantageous play in the future. The sportsbook is said to be under new ownership and is paying players with new processing systems. At least three players are still receiving installments that started in early 2007 when the sportsbook was in slow-pay mode.
BetMania's rating may be reviewed once SBR confirms that these players have been paid in full. |

BetMania (SBR rating D+) Update: Following yesterday's report of player complaints SBR has received additional slow-pay claims. One player was told that he was not paid because the book has given players who are still betting priority. The same player was told he was "third on the payouts list" two weeks earlier. SBR has also received two claims from advertisers, one of which says he was told that monthly payments will not be released until after the baseball season.

BetMania (SBR rating D+) players submit new batch of slow-pay complaints. Six users report being owed over $20,000 in total. The players were initially told they must wait ten days and are now waiting over a month for their transfer. The sportsbook is likely losing to its few active players, offering reduced juice, a free NBA half point and very slow-moving lines. Players who have received a recent payment are asked to notify
SBR.

BetMania (SBR rating D+) confirms cancelation of two Arena Football wagers because the player attempted to win a "middle" (betting on both opposing sides using different lines for the possibility that both bets will cover) and refuses to alter decision.
BetMania's wagering rules do not prohibit betting both sides of a game and state that it uses Las Vegas bookmaking rules for issues that are not addressed within the Terms of Service. However, Las Vegas rules do not prohibit wagering on both sides of a line.
Note:
BetMania claims the bets were canceled before the event began but did not alert the player or provide proof including a time-stamped email. The player claims that if he had known the bets were not wanted he would have placed the wagers at a different sportsbook for the same return of $500.

BetMania (SBR rating D+) once again arbitrarily cancels wagersThe player was allowed to place online wagers on opposing teams. After the event was over the bettor was informed that the winning wagers, the second set of bets, were canceled because of an unlisted rule. The player is told that the sportsbook does not allow middle attempts. However,
BetMania has allowed players to buy back a position when the odds do not move in the bettor's favor. SBR will contact the sportsbook on player's behalf.
Player: Yesterday afternoon I placed two arena football wagers, NY +1.5 and Grand Rapids +12 at $250 each. Both won last night, but I awoke this morning to find out they were cancelled. The reason stated was that BetMania does not permit middling and I had bet the other side of these games two days earlier. Well, no where does it state in their rules about this absurd restriction, but Victor (wager manager) claims it is an "unwritten rule" (what?). He also says that the bets were cancelled before the games went off which I have no way of knowing if it's true. Fact is I could have made my offsets at Betjamaica and Skybook at that exact same lines, had I known about this apparent rule. Bottom line is that these were legit bets, not error lines, so they should stand. As such, BetMania owes me $500, and I am asking your help in getting it. Victor refuses to budge on this matter, and he is so wrong.

Neteller installments. Some non-US players will be forced to wait 3 months to redeem balances under the new payout terms.

BetMania (SBR rating C+) cancels player’s pending wager on the Suns/Kings Under 219, stating that the bet was on a "steam play." Below is the message left in the user’s account.
"Please read this important message: Your Suns Total bet was deleted...obvious steam play. If you continue to bet Steam here your account will be closed"
SBRlines.com shows the average
betting line is currently set between 217 and 218. Line history quotes the market average at 219 only 15 minutes ago.
BetMania is expected to honor this bet and not use subjective terms to get out of honoring
betting odds that hold value for the bettor. Players should expect a confirmed bet to stand unless it is due to an "obvious", or "gross," error.

rollover has been applied to the reinstated winnings, which were originally deleted as the product of invalid bets. SBR has advised
BetMania to update the sportsbook’s terms of service prohibiting users from rebetting duplicate parlay wagers.

SportsInteraction (SBR rating C-): Player reports submitting banking details three times in the month of October. He received an email October 31st stating:
Thank you for contacting Sports Interaction. After reviewing your account I see that your bank details have just been updated today! You withdrawal should be reaching you soon. We are truly sorry for your frustration and thank you for your patience.
The player has yet to be paid.
Expekt (SBR rating C): Two players complain that the sportsbook changes the wagered amount as they see fit. No information was sent to the player about the altered bets.
Player:
I placed a bet with Expekt, the bet was for £55. I placed the bet and then went to ’pending bets’. It said the bet had been accepted for £55. I then logged into my expekt account the next day and saw that they had rejected £32 of the bet stake. They had done with only about 25 minutes left before the actually bet started.
BetMania (SBR rating B-): Users complain about a one week wait for
Neteller payments and a lack of listed rules.
Player:
I was wondering if you can look into BetMania for me. I have a $13,000 balance there and have completed my rollover. They are telling me that they can’t process my payouts via Neteller and they are suggesting eCheck. They said a Neteller payout might not be processed until next week. But I want the payout via Neteller and will wait if I have to. Also, how come they don’t disclose any daily payout limits on their website? And they wait until you request a payout to tell you there’s a daily limit?
A Second player complains that over $2,000 in winnings were deleted due to being the result of duplicate parlays.
BetMania.com does not list rules prohibiting duplicate parlays and it is allowed by the book’s software.

The sportsbook’s new facility is located in Escazu, Costa Rica, and is still under construction. Management tells SBR they plan to be finished with the build-out before the start of the NFL regular season.
BetMania recently launched with the help and resources of
Skybook (SBR rating A-) but will operate as a separate book under same ownership.
