Betway (SBR rating D-) complaint #8 has been filed. A player had £464.50 in winnings confiscated after making a withdrawal request. The player's only violation was to wager in excess of 30% of his bonus amount. Betway is using the bizarre rule to justify confiscating winnings from players. The player was refunded his deposits.
The Betway.com player shared the following with SBR:
Betway to player: "Before any withdrawals are processed, your play will be reviewed for any irregular playing patterns. In the interests of fair gaming, equal, zero or low margin bets or hedge betting, shall all be considered irregular gaming for bonus play-through requirement purposes. Other examples of irregular game play include but are not limited to, placing single bets equal to or in excess of 30% or more of the value of the bonus credited to their account until such time as the wagering requirements for that bonus have been met. Should the Casino deem that irregular game play has occurred, the Casino reserves the right to withhold any withdrawals and/or confiscate all winnings."
On May 18th, SBR reported that the Betway bonus scam took back £6,050 in player winnings. The amount players have lost due to the enforcement of the non-industry rule has now been increased to £6,514.50.
Betway players are advised to file disputes with the LGA of Malta. Players may also submit their complaints to SBR by filing a sportsbook complaint form or writing directly to email@example.com. Players may also call 1-830-255-4677 during normal business hours to speak with a dispute analyst.
