Professional handicapper Doug Upstone brings you some bullet points that show which are the road teams that can bring you profit when it comes to your O/U NHL picks.

When it comes to betting hockey, it is not uncommon for the visitor to play a little close to the vest with the head coach wanting to make sure all defensive aspects are buttoned up for next foe.

Looking at the NHL odds at Bovada for this week's action, I noticed a road team trend that has all the potential to be very useful when generating your NHL picks this week on totals.

Calgary (12-4-1 UNDER) - The Flames are flaming out when it comes time to finding the back of the net when away from home at 2.00 goals per contest.

Chicago (8-1-4 UNDER) - This one is easy to understand, offensive-minded Chicago is the poorest scoring team on the road in the league at a paltry 1.92 goals a game.

San Jose (8-2-4 UNDER) - Oddsmakers have not had a good read on Sharks with higher road totals of 5.5, with them 5-1 UNDER this season.

Columbus (7-2-3 UNDER) - The Blue Jackets defense has all but shrunk the actual goal cage in permitting NHL-best 2.00 GAG, mostly due to goalie Sergei Bobrovsky.

Anaheim (7-3-4 UNDER) - Average score of Ducks road game is 5.15, yet they have this lower totals record. Just seems to be circumstance or luck.

Boston (10-4-2 UNDER) - The Bruins are solid low scoring play because they are 2nd in fewest goals allowed away from Beantown (2.06) and only tally 2.19 GAG.

Minnesota (8-4-2 UNDER) - Sportsbooks have not had a good feel for the Wild home or away at 15-7-5 UNDER. Minnesota is 8th in scoring on the road and 4th in goals allowed.
