Week 10 Thursday Night Football Predictions - Browns vs. Ravens

Baltimore Ravens players gathered around

I have to be honest, some of these Thursday night games are tough to find the right side. Like always, all I can do is no different than you, diligently work to find the right side for my week 10 NFL predictions

What makes this confusing against the NFL odds is the recent history if you believe in trends. For example, do you really want to support a 0-9 Cleveland team (2-7 ATS), despite knowing the underdog is 12-2 ATS in this series since 2009 and they have covered five in a row. For comfort, with the way the Baltimore's defense is playing and the offense for that matter, are you feeling great about a low score with these teams 5-1 OVER in last six.

In looking at A-rated Intertops, the Ravens are a -10 point home favorite with a total of 45. For NFL picks we are going to have to dig deeper than usual to find a winner.

Cleveland Covers If........

They can find a way to stop the run. The Browns were already giving up 144 yards a game and Dallas manhandled them for 168 yards on Sunday. Granted, Baltimore does not bring in anywhere near the fear factor as the Cowboys top-rated running offense, averaging 81.6 YPG on the ground. And in the earlier contest, Cleveland held the Ravens to 80 yards rushing and if they can just play their normal defense, maybe they can hold Baltimore to field goals.

On offense, gear up a physical running game like the last meeting when they rushed for 145 yards, hit a few big passing plays and play mistake free football.

Baltimore Covers If.........

Come prepared to play. With a team like Cleveland, even though it is a division game, if the Ravens can jump out to 14-0 first quarter lead, that is all the reason the winless Browns need to go through the motions. In this case, come out throwing short and long to get Cleveland defense guessing and maybe Mike Wallace can break one like he did last week and then mix in running backs Terrance West and Kenneth Dixon to deliver body blows.

There is a reason why the Baltimore defense is ranked in the Top 5 in several defensive categories, they are that good. If the Ravens can dictate the pace of the game, they can set up Joe Flacco and offense with several shorter fields, making it easier to score. However, this is all predicated on Baltimore's desire.

Your Thursday Night Football Winner Is?

On side action, I will lean with Cleveland getting this many points and cross my fingers. My actual preference will be on the total. The Browns average 18.7 PPG, while Baltimore scores 19.2 PPG and has surrenders 19.1 PPG. One a short week against the bumbling Browns, the Ravens will not have much motivation and they are 14-4 UNDER at home after allowing 75 or less rushing yards last game. Take the UNDER.
