After an entire season of future odds coverage for the NFL, I am back as we enter the home stretch to give you an updated look at some of the top teams in the NFL Odds to win the Super Bowl. There are some teams I like, and some I would fade quickly, but let’s take a brief look at some of the teams you may be thinking of laying a wager on. All of these NFL Odds are courtesy of Bet365.
Even after their loss to the Patriots on Sunday evening, the Broncos seem to still be the favorite to win the Super Bowl. However, I don’t think there was any value with the Broncos after opening night, let alone here in Week 13. If you are looking for a 3/1 wager, I would go elsewhere with your NFL picks, because the Broncos are far from a lock in the AFC right now, and even if they were, the NFC is very stacked.
I can say the same thing about the Seahawks as I do the Broncos, except not only is the NFC deeper, but the Hawks’ division is no joke this season. I’ll get to that in a minute, but at 3/1, the value is gone from Seattle. There are no guarantees they make it out of a stacked NFC this season. Their defense is banged up and faltering down the stretch, and that does not look like a Super Bowl team.
New Orleans might not be a bad bet, but once again the stacked NFC makes it tough at this point to bet any team in that conference to win the Super Bowl. However for the price, there may be only one or two other NFC teams I like better at their respective prices. The Saints are balanced, they run the ball well, and they have one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. It all comes down to getting hot at the right time.
The Pats are probably my best AFC bet right now. Sure they are probably the pick of the week after their win over Denver, but they are getting healthy and hot all at the right time. If New England can close out the year on a winning streak, they could steal the best record from either the Broncos or Chiefs. The Pats remaining five games are all against teams with records below .500, and I like their price here.
The Panthers might still be a year away, so while I can’t yet recommend them as a future odds wager, I can say that they have what it takes. Cam Newton is still a young quarterback who has never been to the playoffs, so tempering expectations might be needed, but if he can get that defense healthy, this team has upside for days.
The Chiefs have been exposed here recently, and injuries have really taken their toll within the last week. They have dropped significantly from their days of being undefeated, but they still have a shot here in a bad AFC conference. You have to think they are still in the running for a bye, but even if they don’t get one, as long as they are healthy, this defense can stop damn near any team in the NFL.
Cardinals (+40000Arizona wasn’t even on the radar a few weeks ago, but with the offense starting to come along, the Cards are looking like the sexiest dark horse pick of any team right now. At 40/1, the Cards have one of the best defenses in the NFC, and if Carson Palmer can continue on the run he is on over the last three weeks, this team could upset a lot of teams, and NFL future wagers if they squeeze into the postseason. It’s going to be tough, but right now they are 7-4 SU and just outside of a wildcard spot thanks to the 49ers who own the tiebreaker over them. However they play both the Hawks and 49ers to close out the season, and they get San Francisco at home in Week 17.
