Dak Prescott

There're just 3 matchups on Friday's slate for NFL Preseason week 2, but they're very intriguing and there's a clear edge for the bettor. Here are your NFL Preseason Picks of the Day for Friday.

New York Jets vs Washington Redskins

Loaded At QB
The Washington Redskins look to even up their record at 1-1 as they were defeated in week 1 by a very gamed Atlanta Falcons squad. Kirk Cousins is locked in as Jay Gruden's starting quarterback, but that's not going to stop Gruden from keeping his quarterback active and this is a very deep position for Washington with the addition of rookie Nate Sudfeld out of the University of Indiana.

I've seen a ton of Sudfeld in college and he definitely made a good impression in week 1 as he threw for 89 yards and 1 touchdown on 10 of 15 passing. We're going to see a lot of Sudfeld along with Colt McCoy and Kirk Cousins. All 3 quarterbacks were outstanding in week 1 as this is a competitive bunch. You never know when an injury can occur and a job is available.

The only negative to the Redskins offense is that we're going to see a lot of guys looking to make a name for themselves and less of receivers such as Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson. Both Jackson and Garcon each had 1 catch and were targeted once last week.

The New York Jets are coming off of a 17-13 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in which Bryce Petty (93 yards), Geno Smith (79, 1 TD), and starter Ryan Fitzpatrick all saw a decent amount of action. The Jets don't want to see Fitzpatrick get injured as he finally signed a contract and it will be Smith and Petty who will be battling it out for the backup role. Actually, in Geno Smith's mind, he think's that he can still start, but don't count on that happening.

Last week, wide receiver, Quincy Enunwa (2 receptions, 69 yards) led the way and I expect to see a lot more of Enunwa in the preseason. Although his numbers weren't huge last season, Enunwa came up with some big catches and is battle-tested. One player to keep an eye on is TE Jace Amaro. Amaro was a huge disappointment last season and was targeted 3 times last week without a catch.

Key Note
The betting total is unusually high for a preseason game and for good reason. The quarterback position is very solid for both teams and guy's will be looking to showcase their skills with less emphasis placed on defense.

Miami Dolphins vs Dallas Cowboys

Will We See a Repeat Performance From Dak Prescott
Fourth round pick, Dak Prescott had some heads turning as the possible future quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys as he played better than the #1 overall pick in Jared Goff last week. Prescott was 10 for 12 for 136 yards and 2 TD in a 28-24 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. This was L.A.'s first game back in Los Angeles and from a Cowboys standpoint, the bettor need's to look at the positives that can be taken away from this game. Prescott hooked up with Dez Bryant for a TD pass and the question will be "Will we see similar production from Prescott against Miami?"

The Cowboys window is closing where Tony Romo is concerned and they're going to protect him and Dez Bryant, who are both injury prone. I expect to see a ton of Dak Prescott in this game.

Ezekiel Elliott Out
Dallas has been burned by the injury bug before and we won't see running back, Ezekiel Elliott for a second straight week. Elliott is a highly touted and talented running back out of Ohio State. He's also the odds-on favorite to win NFL Rookie of the Year, but Miami's defense will be spared as the Cowboys know that this game doesn't count in the regular season. Expect to see more of 6th round pick, Darius Jackson. Jackson rushed for a respectable 47 yards on 12 carries last week. Veterans such as Cole Beasley and Terrance Williams will be to key go to guys for Dallas.

The Steal of the NFL Draft
Due to his personal issues, Miami wide receiver, Leonte Carroo, was taken in the 3rd round of the 2016 NFL Draft and Miami had to make a bunch of moves to get up to this spot. Carroo is projected as the 2nd best wide receiver in the draft behind Corey Coleman and this guy is the real deal. We don't know if we'll see a ton of Carroo in the regular season due to a logjam at the wide receiver position with Jarvis Landry, Rishard Matthews, Kenny Stills, and Devonte Parker, but you heard it from Joe C that Leonte Carroo will be an eventual star in this league. Last week, Carroo caught 3 balls for 18 yards and I expect to see a lot of him in the preseason.

Even though the quarterback position is locked up with Ryan Tannehill, both Matt Moore (122 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT) and Brandon Doughty (7 for 9 for 66 yards) made great first impressions. Being that Tannehill will need to stay healthy, we'll be seeing much more of the tandem of Doughty and Moore and Miami will be very competitive in this game after a 27-10 win in week 1 over the Giants.
