Things are looking bright for the Nevada Wolf Pack as they recently edged out the Washington Huskies in a close call. Tonight, they square off against a much weaker opponent in the UC Irvine Anteaters. The Wolf Pack are double-digit favorites and this appears to be a nice opportunity for the Wolf Pack to "pad their record".

UC Irvine Anteaters (5-6) vs Nevada Wolf Pack (8-2)

Marcus Marshall

Marcus Marshall has been the story of the Wolf Pack's season as he's been the major force behind their success. In their last game, Marshall hit a 15 footer with just 1 second remaining on the clock to give the Nevada the lead and the victory over the Huskies in "Washington's House". Marshall carried Nevada on his back as he finished the game with 32 points.

While lacking accuracy with his shooting, a lot of it can be attributed to the senior transfer's tendency to hoist up the 3 ball. Marshall is averaging nearly 10 - 3 point attempts per game along with his team leading 20.4 points per game.

Another player to keep an eye on is sophomore Cameron Oliver. Oliver has been reliable in the first 10 games of the season, averaging 16 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.2 blocks per game. Look for Oliver to provide problems for the Anteaters on both ends of the court. Oliver is also coming off of a nice showing against Washington in which he poured in 18 points along with 3 blocks. I see no reason for Oliver not to play well in this matchup ; a matchup that clearly favors Nevada.

Taking On All Comers

The one thing that I'll certainly give UC Irvine credit for is their tough schedule. This is a team that's faced 3 AP Top 25 teams. Although the Anteaters lost all 3 of those games, they did manage to keep their matchup against California close and they're a slightly better team than their losing record indicates.

This is a team that has a problem scoring points. They average just 62 points on 12 assists per game and the Anteaters possess one player in double figure scoring in Jaron Martin (12.5 points). This is a very deep team as 10 players average 12 minutes per game or more and sometimes that leads to success. Where the Anteaters are concerned, they haven't had the success of a Kentucky, a team that substitutes in a similar manner. Look for Nevada to take care of business in this matchup and come up with the "W".
