We are just about two months until the start of college basketball season and while this is obviously football season, Bovada sportsbook still has some interesting NCAAB Future Odds that might be worth an offseason play.
Brandon Ingram's departure is obviously going to hurt for the Blue Devils, but compared to other teams at the top of the odds boards among the best sports betting sites, Duke is prepared to absorb the loss of the second overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft.
Duke brought in Harry Giles and Jayson Tatum, two of the top three signees on the big boards of most anyone this offseason. Plus, Marques Bolden shafted Kentucky for Duke as well, bolstering their frontcourt.
Plus, we aren't even to the players that Duke retained While Ingram is a big loss, the ever-loved Grayson Allen is still in a Duke uniform, as is Luke Kennard and Matt Jones. Combine all this depth and talents with Coach K's ability to turn them into a National Championship team, and you have a potentially great wager at 4/1 which you can bet at Bovada.
Even though they lost out on Bolden, and lost both Tyler Ulis and Jamaal Murray to the NBA, the Wildcats are still going to be a dangerous club this season and potentially one of the best teams in all of the college basketball division.
The Wildcats do have returning players like Derek Willis and Isaiah Briscoe, and as always, the Wildcats have a deep and talented crop of five-star recruits coming to Lexington. Bam Adebayo, De'Aaron Fox, and Malik Monk are all top 20 recruits, so while Duke may have grabbed more of the top five guys, Kentucky is still going to be right there with Duke.
Even with the losses in recruiting, plus losses in transfers and the NBA Draft, Kentucky will still be a top-five team all season and potentially a national championship contender.
After UK and Duke, the Jayhawks and the defending national champion Wildcats are right there at 10/1 on the NCAA Basketball picks to win the national championship this season. Nova is probably still riding high from their win at the last second over North Carolina (+1600) and even after losing Ryan Arcidiacono and Daniel Ochefu, the Wildcats are still going to be a great team.
Nova brought in five-star big man, Omari Spellman while retaining Josh Hart and Jalen Brunson, so even though they may not have the unbelievable chemistry that led them to a national title last season, the Wildcats are still one of the better teams in the country and should be a top-five team all season.
Kansas and Bill Self are also going to be very good this season. They retained some nice talent with Frank mason and Devonte Graham coming back, while the Jayhawks also added top recruits in Josh Jackson and Udoka Azubuike. Jackson might be one of the better freshmen coming into the year on any team, while Azubuike is a seven-footer with a lot of talent.
