The Duquesne Dukes will be counting the minutes as they wait to take the court at Rupp Arena after a very stinging 1 point loss to Canisius. That said, oddsmakers give the Dukes little chance to win this game as they're a 29 point betting underdog. Can the Dukes be competitive or will this game be the blowout that is expected?

Duquesne Dukes (2-2) vs. Kentucky Wildcats (3-0)

Battle-Tested

While most teams in the AP Top 25 possess easy schedules, the Kentucky Wildcats have one of the tougher schedules in college basketball. In game number 3 of the 2016-2017 NCAA Basketball Season, the Wildcats met a formidable foe in #13 Michigan State and proceeded to blow out the Spartans, 69-48.

Not one member of the Spartans starting 5 scored in double figures as the Kentucky defense was out in full force. Mind you, this is a Michigan State team that went on to win their next game 100-53 against Mississippi Valley State. This shows the fans and the bettors alike, just how good that Kentucky really is.

"One and Done Club"

When one thinks of Kentucky, the first thing that comes to mind is the players that are being recruited to play one season at Kentucky and then move on to the NBA. In most cases this is true, but for players such as Isaiah Briscoe (19.7 points, 3.3 rebounds), this isn't true.

Along with freshman Malik Monk (16.3 points, 3.3 rebounds), De'Aaron Fox (15 points, 7 assists, 4 rebounds), and Edrice Adebayo (8.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.7 blocks), this Kentucky team will once again compete to win a national championship. Coach John Calipari is the best recruiter in college basketball and it reflects in the instant results that Kentucky is getting and tonight should be no different as they face a much inferior team where talent is concerned in Duquesne.

Speaking of freshman, forward Isiaha Mike has made an immediate impact on the Dukes program. He's their 2nd leading scorer at 12 points per game, is a solid rebounder, and can knock down the 3-ball. Mike is a very efficient shooter and along with the overall game of leading scorer, Tarin Smith, Duquesne hope's to make this a competitive game.Smith can dish the rock, rebound the basketball, pick pockets (1.8 spg) and convert on his shots. While Duquesne has legitimate talent in these two players, the Wildcats are in a league of their own and the NCAAB odds have Kentucky as a huge betting favorite for a reason. For my NCAA Basketball pick, I am going to take Kentucky on the spread.
