Gonzaga Bulldogs cheerleaders

Monday is a fun day as the Gonzaga Bulldogs are back in action and they've just been tearing their schedule to shreads, undefeated and ranked #4 in the nation. Can Gonzaga take their game vs. Portland to another level as  23.5 points are a lot to lay?

Gonzaga Bulldogs vs Portland Pilots

Going Through the Motions

When a team such as Gonzaga, who has dominated their conference and basically waiting for the NCAA Tournament as no team in their conference can defeat them, a 20 point margin near the end of the 2nd half is where the substitutes come in and that's my only concern here. Gonzaga has covered the spread on a regular basis and the number is being placed higher as Sportsbooks are almost tempting the bettors to side with Gonzaga and hoping for a Portland cover.

A More Efficient Effort

One part of Gonzaga's game that need's improvement is their efficiency on offense. The Bulldogs shot just 45.3 % from the field and were just 31.3% from beyond the arc against Portland. This is a team that shoot's over 50 % from the field on a regular basis. Gonzaga managed just 33 rebounds and was actually outrebounded by Portland significantly. To go along with this, leading scorer, Nigel Williams-Goss was just 3 of 11 from the field to finish up with a team-high 15 points. With all of the negative, Gonzaga still won by 21 points and expect a much better effort here.

Out For the Season!

Portland's leading scorer, Alec Wintering, is out for the season with a torn ACL. This is a crushing blow, especially in this game as Wintering is the go-to guy on this Portland squad. Without him, Portland will be demoralized and has no chance at a win or cover in this spot.
