By the Numbers is a daily NBA column featuring Swinger’s top selections according to historical trends and game time matchups. Let’s review the top picks for Saturday’s slate and cash in our NBA picks.

Knicks (26-39 SU, 34-31 ATS) vs. Pistons (32-33 SU, 32-33 ATS)

* Detroit is 4-1 ATS in their last five after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game.

* Detroit is 9-0 ATS in their last nine games as a favorite.

* Detroit is 7-0 ATS in their last seven home games vs. a team with a road winning percentage of less than .400.

* Detroit is 4-0 ATS in their last four games as a home favorite of 5.0-10.5.

* New York is 0-4 ATS in their last four Saturday games.

* New York is 2-5 ATS in their last seven games vs. a team with a losing straight up record.

* New York is 2-7 ATS in their last nine when their opponent allows 100 points or more in their previous game.

* New York is 0-4 ATS in their last four road games vs. a team with a winning home record.

Quite frankly, the numbers are begging you to include the Detroit Pistons in your NBA picks tonight. Not only does Detroit own a 21-12 straight up and 20-13 ATS home record but they have won and covered three of their last four outings, including a 106-101 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday night. The Knicks only visit to The Palace of Auburn Hills this season was back in November when the Pistons dominated New York en route to a 102-89 thrashing as four-point home chalk. We see more of the same tonight.

Wizards (40-24 SU, 35-28-1 ATS) vs. Trail Blazers (28-35 SU, 26-37 ATS)

* Portland is 2-6 ATS in their last eight games following an ATS loss.

* Portland is 9-21 ATS in their last 30 games following a straight up win.

* Portland is 2-6 ATS in their last eight games playing on one day's rest.

* Portland is 3-8 ATS in their last 11 after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game.

* Washington is 4-0 ATS in their last four Saturday games.

* Washington is 21-8-1 ATS in their last 30 after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game.

* Washington is 5-1 ATS in their last six games as an underdog of 0.5-4.5.

* Washington is 7-0 ATS in their last seven road games vs. a team with a winning home record.

I'm not sure why the NBA odds makers favor the Trail Blazers in this matchup. Of course, Portland has been playing well, winning their last four and covering the number in three of those contests. However, the Wizards are an Eastern Conference power nipping at the heels of the defending world champion Cavaliers for the top spot in the East. Sure Washington played last night and defeated the Kings 130-122 but let's not forget that the Wizards are 4-0 ATS in their last four playing the second leg of back-to-back games. These teams have met just once this season and it was the Wizards prevailing by the score of 120-101 in Washington. The venue has shifted but the victor will remain the same.
