Sixers vs. Heat - Picks Of The Day, March 1st

Miami Heat

With Joel Embiid out for the season, the Sixers are being forced to play a lot faster. They have been playing at a lightning fast pace over their last five games and that should continue tonight, especially in the first half against the Heat.

Sixers vs. Heat

The loss of Joel Embiid for the rest of the season is probably more of a precautionary move than one of great concern for Embiid's current injury. However, his absence over the last few weeks has started to transform this team.

They are obviously not as good defensively without Embiid, but their offense has gone under the biggest transformation. Since February 15th right before the All Star Break, the Sixers have been playing a lot faster.

According to NBA Stats, the Sixers have a pace of 107.7 possessions per 48 minutes in their last four games. They only cashed the over in two of those, but for this one we are going with a first half total of 108.

The last time the Sixers traveled to Miami this season, the first half total and game total easily cashed the over. Miami dropped 64 points in the first half and 125 total points. I could easily see them doing that again without Embiid tonight.

The Heat have averaged 57 points per first half in their last five games and in three games against the Sixers this season, they have averaged 52.3 points per first half. With Embiid out, look for Miami to take advantage of the Sixers and look for the 76ers to continue to play up in pace.
