The Spurs have eaten against poor defensive teams that like to play fast and we see them doing it again Thursday. There are many ways to bet the NBA odds for this game vs. Denver, but the best may be a play on the Spurs’ team total.
Denver Nuggets Vs. San Antonio Spurs
I have been trying to teach the sportsbooks a lesson with the Spurs against fast-paced teams who don't play any defense. They are starting to catch on with them as -12 favorites and a total of 222 tonight against visiting Denver.
Against the Suns, Nuggets, Lakers and Blazers (the only four teams who rank in the top 10 in pace and the bottom 10 in defensive efficiency) the Spurs have gone 7-1 ATS, (7-0 on United States soil) they have cashed the 'over' at 6-2 and they are averaging 116 points per game.
Now that the sportsbooks have caught on to my scheme, we have to get creative, which is what I've done the last two NBA picks on the Spurs. Their team total is exactly 116 points at BetOnline right now vs. the Nuggets, and I am grabbing the 'over' once again.
We are 1-1 betting the over on Spurs' team totals so far over the last week or so, but my last loss was in Mexico City, which is subsequently the only game the Spurs have lost SU and ATS against those four teams mentioned above.
However, when they play at home against those teams, it gets better. The Spurs have yet to play the Nuggets at home this season, but the last time they played them they dropped 127 points -- and against the other three teams they are averaging 121 in three games.
