Even though this is purely football season, the NBA is going to be here before you know it, and BetOnline sportsbook has released some very early NBA Odds for season win totals on some of the higher profile teams in the league. Here are my three best odds values, just about a month before training camp opens.
Chicago Bulls O/U 44.5 wins
The Bulls traded Derrick Rose this offseason in almost a sure-fire sign that they were ready to break things down and rebuild around Jimmy Butler. That lasted all of a week before they signed Rajon Rondo and surprisingly signed Dwyane Wade, so the NBA world immediately started thinking about how good the Bulls could actually be this season.
If things work out with Wade and Rondo and those two can accept that this is Butler's team, this might actually work. Rondo will have to be unselfish, while Wade will be forced to take a backseat to Butler and some of the other young talented players in Chicago, but then again, these are a lot of ifs.
This could easily blow up in Chicago's face as well. The East is getting better with every passing year, but the Bulls, on the other hand, might not be too much better than they were a year ago when they missed the playoffs. A below .500 finish is not out of the question. Wade is not going to play more than 55 or 60 games, while Rondo could easily blow up this locker room half way through the season like he did in Dallas. Simply put, the Bulls were looking like an undervalued team, but now are firmly overvalued.
Free NBA Pick: UNDER 44.5 (-105)
Indiana Pacers O/U 46.5 wins
Other than the Cavaliers, the only other team to get truly excited about this offseason in the East's Central Division is the Indiana Pacers . The Pacers are currently at +10000 to win the title. After his strong performance for Team USA, Paul George looks primed to compete for the MVP award this season, but the Pacers are as deep and dangerous as they have been in a long time.
They pulled off one of the best pair of trades this offseason of any team, flipping George Hill and a lottery pick for Thaddeus Young and Jeff Teague. They also brought in Al Jefferson to back up young, Myles Turner, oh and they also still have Monta Ellis and a deep bench of shooters.
If the Pacers can rally under new head coach, Nate McMillan and start to play the fast-paced, three and defense strategy the league is trending towards, the Pacers might be the second best team in the East and have 50-win potential in the odds among the top sports betting sites. Indiana has a ton of options when it comes to personnel and that could give teams problems. Don't sleep on Indiana like Bet Online is apparently doing.
Free NBA Pick: OVER 46.5 (-115)
Oklahoma City Thunder O/U 43.5 wins
The loss of Kevin Durant during the season a couple of years ago really hurt the Thunder, but OKC is a lot deeper and more talented than they were in 2013-2014 and even without Durant, they are still a 45 to 50 win team in the West.
Russell Westbrook might average a triple-double this season for the Thunder, while Enes Kanter and company will all step up to fill Durant's void. While it won't be completely filled, the Thunder still have 50 win potential, making them a great value for the over here.
Bringing in Victor Oladipo should also help fill the void on offense and give the Thunder another ball handler alongside Westbrook. Their guard play should still be good with young, Cameron Payne growing another year stronger and wiser, while Steven Adams and recently drafted Domantas Sabonis also has a lot of upsides. This team may not compete for a championship, but they are easily a 44-win team or better .
Free NBA Pick: OVER 43.5 (-115)
