Premier League - How To Bet Saturday's Manchester Derby

Manchester United Team Players Entering The Soccer Field Prior To Matchup

It's the biggest game of the Premier League season on Saturday when Man City make the short trip to Old Trafford to take on city rivals Man United.

Manchester United vs Manchester City
This is the first clash in England of a bitter rivalry between Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola who have made it clear their feelings towards each other and it's highly likely that it's a match between the two teams that are going to fight out the title race this term.

Everybody is expecting an early season classic, but I am not so sure and like so many high profile match ups at the start of a new campaign this could really fizzle out into a bit of dull affair. Both sides have started the new season in fantastic fashion with 100 per cent winning records but who have they faced? Nobody of any quality.

United have scored six goals in their three wins over Bournemouth, Southampton, and Hull and City have managed nine in their impressive wins over Sunderland, Stoke and West Ham. The one thing I don't expect to see on Saturday is a goal fest as history will show us that it's far too early in the season to see a classic and goals are always hard to find for both sides in the Manchester derby with both teams scoring in just one of the last five match-up between the city rivals.

The big problem for City is that they have to go up against their arch-rivals without their main goal threat Sergio Aguero who is suspended for this match and that might see a more cautious approach from Pep Guardiola at Old Trafford. The other concern for their backers is that they start their Champions League group campaign on Tuesday with a home match with Borussia M'gladbach and the priority at the Etihad this year must be on success in Europe.

Both teams to score looks a "no" for me and is my free soccer pick in this one at the 2.10 with BetVictor as I am predicting a very cagey affair with neither side wanting to lose ground in their main title rival at the early stage of the season.

United are the 2.36 favorites with BetVictor to gain local bragging rights, which I don't disagree with, but the 2.36 does look a bit short when you consider that they've only won this fixture just once in the last five years.

City are a general 3.30 and without Aguero, I really can't see how they can find a way past a very impressive United defence and on the match prices the draw looks the best value at the 3.30 with William Hill, but my main focus in this one is on goals or the lack of them. Marcus Rashford will be pushing for a place in the United starting XI after his hat-trick for England's under 21s in midweek but I can't see Mourinho changing a winning line-up and at a massive 10.0 no goalscorer in the match has caught my attention.
