Join us on our daily coverage of the ATP French Open. Find out our top tennis picks for Day 5 and why should you place these two valuable tennis bets.

Guillermo Garcia-Lopez vs Dominic Thiem (13)
It was far from an easy debut for our player to keep an eye on this event, Dominic Thiem, but the Austrian raised his level after losing the first set to overcome Inigo Cervantes by 3 – 6 6 – 2 7 – 5 6 – 1. Thiem is for the third consecutive year on the 2nd round of the French Open yet, he was never able to go a step further – losing in 2014 against Rafael Nadal and in 2015 against Pablo Cuevas.

It has been a consistent clay court season for Guillermo Garcia-Lopez, with the Spaniard winning 8 of the 9 matches he played when priced as favorite. Garcia-Lopez is a very solid baseline player with the forehand as his best groundstroke yet, there isn't much he can do when facing higher ranked players and his record in the past 50 matches when priced as underdog is a good example of that, with a 15 – 35 record and a -8.9% ROI. It was far from an impressive debut, but Garcia-Lopez got the job done against Thiemo de Bakker by 6 – 4 6 – 4 5 – 7 7 – 6.

These two players will face each other for the first time and it should be a very entertaining contest between two one-handed backhand players. After a tough first round, Thiem will be looking for an easier match and he should be too good for his opponent. Garcia-Lopez is a solid player but there isn't much he can do from the baseline against this opponent and with this in mind, our suggestion is for you to add Dominic's spread to your tennis picks as the highest value tennis bet for this contest.

Marcos Baghdatis vs Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (6)
The two-time French Open semifinalist, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, is looking for another successful journey on his favorite tournament. Tsonga experienced no problems on his first round match against Jan-Lennard Struff, defeating the German by 6 – 3 6 – 4 6 – 4. Tsonga was extremely solid throughout the match on his serve, winning 93.3% of the service games he played. Looking at Tsonga's victories on this event since 2013, 85.71% of them were in straight sets which shows how strong and consistent Jo uses to be on this competition.

Clay is by far Marcos Baghdatis worst surface, with the Cypriot winning only 48.08% of the matches he played throughout his career on this surface while his overall career winning record is 61.77%. Despite Marcos poor record on clay he booked a place on this second round with a 7 – 5 6 – 4 6 – 1 triumph over Gilles Muller yet, Muller was far from his best level and couldn't take advantage of a 5 – 1 lead on the 1st set and also a break lead on the 2nd set.

These two players know each other well with Tsonga leading on the h2h by 6 – 1. Baghdatis won their encounter back in 2004 but since then, it was the French who emerged victorious in the following six matches between 2011 and 2016.

Both players are known for playing better on faster surfaces however, there are no doubts that Tsonga is the better player on clay, especially when playing on the French Open. Baghdatis was far from reliable on his serve against Muller, winning only 80.0% of his service games and against a player like Jo-Wilfried that should be fatal. We believe that Tsonga will get the job done without much problems and for that reason, our recommendation is for you to take advantage of the French's tennis odds by placing a bet on his set handicap.
