The mixture of average pitching and potent lineups makes for a smart Over MLB Pick as the Blue Jays host the Tigers at Rodgers Center. Read on as our capper analyzes this game.

Detroit Tigers vs Toronto Blue Jays
The Toronto Blue Jays (-128 at Bookmaker) welcome in the Detroit Tigers (+120 at BetCris) for the opener of a four-game series. The Rodgers Center will host two teams that have shown signs of offensive life recently and both teams trot out starting pitchers that have troubling concerns. The Rodgers Center roof has been open the last few games and with the weather forecast in Toronto projected to be pleasant, it should be open again tonight, boosting the offensive potential from these two potent lineups.

Marco Estrada was slated to be the starter tonight for the hometown Jays, but he was placed on the disabled list with a sore back yesterday, the start goes to Drew Hutchison (1-0, 5.40 ERA), who has made 15 of his 16 starts this season with Triple-A Buffalo, where he is 6-3 with a 2.78 ERA. Hutchinson has split the outcomes with the Tigers in the three prior matchups against he is 1-1. This time out the 25-year-old righty will be asked the tough task of navigating the suddenly hot Detroit lineup.

The Tigers exploded for 12 runs yesterday vs the Cleveland Indians and one of the best pitchers in baseball to this point in the season Josh Tomlin. The Tigers lineup roughed the Indians righty despite his 1.12 WHIP on the season. Although Drew Hutchinson has shown decent numbers with Triple-A Buffalo, he has yet to be consistent at the major league level. It's a tough task to face this powerful Detroit Tigers lineup in his first Major League start since April.

On the other side, Justin Verlander bounced back from a sub-par effort by holding Tampa Bay to two runs, one earned, on four hits while striking out eight in seven innings on Saturday. The former MVP is not the top tier talent he once was, being rocked for eight runs, four home runs in 4 2/3 innings by Cleveland on June 26. Verlander faced Toronto once last season on July 5 at home and surrendered a home run to Justin Smoak while allowing seven runs in five frames. The Tigers righty will also be facing one of the best lineups in baseball, the Blue Jays are coming in hot after ripping off a three-game sweep of the World Series champion Kansas City Royals.

The hitters haven that is the Rodgers Center looks to have the atmosphere for a high scoring run environment tonight with 80-degree weather and moderate winds, the roof should be open and the percentage of fly balls that find the outfield seats should be higher. Drew Hutchison and Justin Verlander are more of the hard straight throwing pitchers that profile horribly going up against each opposing lineup.

The Detroit bullpen has struggled this year sporting a 1.37 WHIP in relief, putting them in the bottom third of MLB bullpen rankings. The Blue Jays have not been stellar either posting a 1.32 reliever WHIP year to date. My MLB pick is to wager on the over tonight in Toronto for this American League matchup between two teams with playoff aspirations.
